Not many people know this, but there's a sweet spot you can maintain in dangerous, high-level zones if you get attacked by a powerful monster.
Chances are good that the monster will be attacked by another one, competing over you, while they're busy fighting you can quietly slip away.
I've gotten a lot of high-end alchemy ingredients making use of this.

The high level zones are on whole different playing field. The monsters that there are strong enough to knock a normal man off their feet with just the shockwave of their attacks.
