Oh, sorry, that first part isn't quite right. While it can mean "plain", in the context of a person it's more either blunt, or indifferent. So, aloof female warrior, probably.

Moving on.


To give her face an intimidating and aloof kind of look, I gave her sanpaku eyes ("three whites", meaning eyes where the white is visible on both sides as well as below the iris), and gave her thicker and shorter eyebrows. And while I usually draw more pronounced eyelashes on my girls, I deliberately made them a little thinner here.
And, because I wanted her eyes to have a strong appearance, I didn't make the color of her eyes too dark so they don't end up blurring together with the lines, and drew the lines of her eyes more heavily to emphasize them.

I somehow arrived at the decision to make her clothes and hakama not too fancy in terms of colors!
Her sarashi has a very noticeable red stain. The girl in the illustration seems to have taken a fatal wound around her chest when she fell and became an Ochimusha. It's not like the wound is still open, but the clothes she's wearing aren't the same from when she died or anything. It seems like when it comes to Ochimusha, the fatal wound that caused their death and eventual undeath, even after closing up, the spot it was at will easily leak demonic energy which is dyed red like blood.
