Duolingo is fucking awful for SRS learning. It doesn't push the user enough and it's not knowledgeable, but because it's packaged and presented in such a digestible way (You will LEARN how to speak this language in less than a year!) that it's the language equivalent to a toddler putting blocks in their corresponding holes. There's a reason why Wanikani + Bunpro + Satori Reader are much better choices for those who want that "app experience" that isn't making your own anki decks. They force you to type in your answers, no multiple choice garbage, or just straight up proper learning, plus they're curated and updated by people who actually give a shit about the language.
