Those weren't the intestines of the fallen grasshopper. They were worms, ones several times the size of the frame they emerged from. Undulating on the floor they were traveling in separate directing across my living room. Realizing that left unchecked they might disappear inside of my carpet located several feet away I snapped out of a daze and quickly set to forming a plan to remove them. Still in shock from the image before me I disposed of them in the only way I felt comfortable, a combination of spray deodorant and a lighter. While such meassures might seem extreme and dangerous, the horror made the throw caution to the wind. these things had to die. Fire proved effective and luckily caused no harm to my surroundings appart from a small stain in the floor. The sight of their burned remains, now perfectly still and charred brough only a temporary sense of relief. The desire to understand the events that just unfolded led me to investigate the organisms on the internet.
