There's a difference between dwelling on the past and knowing that an overflowing amount of people have hit this entire site and that we got our own burst of them a couple years back. There's literally nothing anyone can do to make sure things "get better" aside from letting the bad kind of folks never feel welcome... but that's about as much of a deterrent as snake oil is an elixir; it only works on the most gullible of idiots and even then barely.

The thing with migrations is they never work and every group that does leave either A. visits both or B. believes themselves to be the only good group or C. is just an excuse for some anon to powertrip until his domain expires. There's already been like a dozen times this has happened in /jp/ history. The only ones I can ever say breaks the mold are the ones hyper-focused on a single thing and of those basically only Uboa and the CYOA board are still "active" last time I checked a year or so ago. And the worst part is they get nearly zero new blood nowadays; because people tend to forget that no matter how much you spin it even a simple textboard requires money to keep up. In a couple of so years everyone that was them will be gone unless an autist archives as much of the sites as possible presuming they get a heads up in the first place. But I digress.

It was a slow decline but what really was the final nail was moot encouraging a board invasion in a live interview back a decade or so ago. There was no realistic way /jp/ could defend itself and keep its insular culture when moot basically did the worst thing possible to destroy it. It was already done by that point. Being a dumping ground for non-related /a/ and /v/ topics only really was piling on its grave. I only go to the threads for a specific topic like most other boards now and have heavy filters otherwise.
