Originally, it seems like the split between Rika and Bernkastel is that Rika didn't remember what happened between fragments. It's why you can have "Rika" tagging along with Hanyuu in Connecting Fragments but then not remembering anything about even Minagoroshi, much less any of Connecting Fragments (I mean original scenes, not flashbacks, like Hanyuu and Rika meeting Keiichi in his first day in Hinamizawa or contacting Akasaka), in Matsuribayashi itself.

You can see this pretty explicitly. in Saikoroshi. "Rika" proper didn't even know what a fragment was before Hanyuu explained to her. Because she doesn't remember anything that happens between her death and restart in another world, while her witch personality/Bern does.

Although Gou/Sotsu's script didn't come directly from Ryukishi, I think he completely forgot about that split nowadays. A huge plot point shared in both manga and anime for Gou is Hanyuu explaining the Onigari no Ryuou to Rika in the Sea of Fragments, and she obviously needs to keep those memories in the real world, while that shouldn't happen if the split still worked like it did originally.

>How is Saikoroshi being ignored? Nothing that happened it was contradicted in Gou, Rika just doesn't bring it up because it doesn't matter here.
Rika's promise to think as a human and not a witch is completely disregarded with her going all witch much faster than in the original. And this time with glowing red eyes. Her promise to accept her next death also is never mentioned.

There's also how in Saikoroshi Rika is portrayed not remembering the sea of fragments itself. She knows she's a looper and went to different worlds, but it doesn't seem like she keeps memories of the sea of fragments stuff itself. Hanyuu had to explain it to her. In Gou, Rika is outright shown having flashbacks to the sea of fragments.

And this is putting aside how her character went into a completely different direction. Back in Saikoroshi she killed her mother just to return to a Hinamizawa with everyone rather than staying in one where people's bonds were weaker and they'd all likely drift apart once Hinamizawa were submerged. Now, in Gou, she wanted to leave Hinamizawa and didn't seem bothered by people drifting apart.
