I think this was a topic of contention some threads back. Regarding KC feeling World Guide 1 was a bit misleading or poorly worded in some ways compared to what he intended, there's this he said from a tweet storm back on 10/30/21

>It's a little strange, but I think that the life of a man who marries a monster girl is better illustrated in my last works than in The First Guide. They better show what can happen to each of the mamono's husbands.

But that just means the ushi can "reward" him instead. Ushi always wins.

And you think the MGE monsters aren't "more than sex stuff"?

Monsters do find human food culture fascinating. Human chefs are a major source of inspiration and innovation in the monster's own developing food culture.

There are others, I guess you haven't read MGE volume 2 published by Seven Seas?

Really, there seem to be incubi serving in many of the various jobs that have been detailed for mamono realms. Other ones we know about are chefs who are incubi, and mamono realm beast hunters who are incubi. And of course there are the various leaders who are incubi.

On that note, the ocelomeh is another good example of how to recognize hyperbole in the entries. Note how it says "from then on their lives consist of nothing but ravishing their husbands" however, if that were literally true than the "affectionate behavior" later described would be impossible. Heck, it'd also be impossible to take a ocelomeh's husband aside and ask about their private life if he was constantly on the receiving end of ravishing coitus in public.

Similarly, a ushi-oni couldn't go take cooking classes if she had to literally spend most of every day having sex.

You take that back anon.

Besides, compared to the average beast the average person would seem retarded if they had to survive in the wild on their own. Wild monsters are geniuses at what they need to be geniuses at.

You're misinformed about monsters and their love of food then. In fact they and incubi enjoy food even more than regular humans.

>As you know, a monster and her incubus husband can live just with one another's essence and mamono mana, so in the worst case scenario, even if they have no other food, they can go on living. For that reason, it seems there are even those who think food is not important for incubi and monsters, but that's a big misunderstanding!

>It's just that in the worst case scenario, even if they can't eat, they won't starve from not eating. Or even if they forget to eat for a while when having sex, they won't die, but monsters and incubi are still fully endowed with an appetite for food. It's just that sexual desire comes first, but monsters and incubi are fundamentally full of powerful desires, and their appetite for food is powerful as well. We could even say that their desire to eat delicious food is greater than that of humans.

KC dislikes pressures that make people unhappy and unfulfilled. In contrast his setting is all about wish fulfillment (with a few fairly strict ground rules).

Plus, a lot of his answers to fans seem way too detailed to simply be pandering. His "Making of" articles show that there tends to be a lot about his monsters that just doesn't end up in the profile.

Heck, he outright depicts monsters in official books behaving in ways that the profiles make seem unlikely (the ushi-oni cook and Saphirette), just to showcase how the profiles are meant to be guidelines and generalizations from a very narrow view of the in-universe author who is still constantly learning, and that the in-universe monster authors on the other hand are more reliable when it comes to less general info.

Some ushis are more civilized than others, especially with their seals on. Keep in mind a number of them were once human.

The inari school this one attended is outside Zipangu, perhaps the inari who founded it brought her along or vouched for her?

You should read up on the settings, the World Guide 2 stuff is a lot less dark in tone than you might expect. http://monstergirlsredux.com/viewforum.php?f=12

So does it count as smug when the girl is proud over a genuinely great accomplishment?

I mean imagine the skill it takes to make a dish like that with those hands. She deserves that smug/proud smile.

Growing numbers from many races are learning how to cook. But as far as being mentioned in the profiles themselves, well, devils come to mind, as do yuki-onnas.
