Japanese production committee systems are fucked beyond belief to mitigate risk. Multiple companies band together to create something, be it a show or movie or performance or band or franchise, anything. If it fails, the loss is distributed and minimized, but if it succeeds then whoever threw in the most amount of money at the start is the one that wins big and everyone else just kinda gets a snack portion. This is changing in the industry with people like Kazuma Miki starting vertical production financing with Straight Edge and Egg Firm. That vertically integrated production funding is the reason SAO Alicization looked so good, the only deadlines were those from Egg Firm, a company Kazuma Miki owns, and he actually understands the importance of giving studios enough time. WIth Bushiroad it's a little more vague since they heavily invest in franchises, which to me means that they're treating Hololive pretty much the same way they did Milky Holmes but they're letting someone else manage it. They don't really care what happens with the group they just want a return on investment, and I'd wager they got it but it probably subtracted near or above 50% of what Cover should've gotten.

I can whip together a dinner 20X better than instant noodles with only 5X the amount of effort it'd take to make them. I just don't understand why you would ever not cook for yourself if you can.
