The more time goes by the more I actually like this song. It's actually a way more technical song than the PEKOPEKOPEKOPEKO MIKOMIKOMIKOMIKO parts make it seem.

People put too much emphasis on whether pekomiko is at its core romantic or not. Whether their relationship is a sexually or romantically involved one or not, either way it's clearly tighter than most sexual or romantic relationships. Sex isn't the endgame of human cooperation, there are many empty romances and many deep friendships. Even if they are lovers, that would actually be small in comparison to their original relationship to begin with. I think westerners are so obsessed with gayness in particular because there's basically no true culture of loyalty and camaraderie left, so the deeper same-sex bonding becomes the more it becomes "gay" as that's the only publicly acknowledged same sex relationship of depth in western culture. As a consequence, many people just want PekoMiko to persist or deepen for the girls' sake, but think that it needs to be gay for that to happen, and/or for pekomiko to be "real".

The song's mediocre. It has a good chorus but the overall composition is boring and janky, the lyrics are really shallow and inclusive. PekoMiko teetee written by someone else just doesn't feel like the real thing.

That said it's just a silly rhythm game track that probably isn't meant to be taken very seriously in the first place. I'm sure the girls had fun, and getting to make a song/music video together after how long they've been at the vtuber game and Miko coming back from an indefinite hiatus is really wholesome in itself. The reception is positive too, I'm happy for them and look forward to seeing them keep growing.
