Among Yukari's decisions that have most perplexed me is her decision to harbor Seiga Kaku in our war effort.

The motives are clear-cut, yet I can't scratch the itch that whispers it's more of a hindrance than actual help. Truly biased, considering Anon's words about her, but her evils are centuries old… Ugh, it doesn't matter, not at this point.

I walk out of the Gap, eyes narrowing with the heavy atmosphere. A Chinese-like room, candlelight illuminating many scriptures, tapestries, and other luxurious sorts, though most depicted scenes of taboos: orgies, wars fought under Tao, sacrifices…

Surrounded by the candles laid on the ground around her like a circle—the zombie standing in the shadows, her eyes glowing; the origin of the odor of death… maybe—, Seiga sat with her legs crossed. A European art piece of a massive, naked man eating a human hung on the wall, towering over her. His eyes were haunting. “Oh, hello, Ran~!” The hermit said, stopping her Tao chant and turning to me, her hairpin clasped tight in her hand being used to sculpt a figure in rosewood; it looked incomplete, but whoever it was, had a terrible feeling to them. “Wow, you look on edge! Didn't you like my collection? Yukari was very nice for helping me bring it all from the mausoleum—the HSE's atmosphere is unbeatable! So much wretchedness and affliction~!” I nodded slowly as she giggled.

Yoshika grumbled, Seiga humming before getting up and putting her hairpin back on her head, fixing her disheveled hair. “Greetings, Seiga. I've simply come to—”

“To appreciate the true art of Tao? I didn't know you were interested, Ran! Here, lemme give you a tour.” The hermit skipped my way, her smile growing. “Ah, this smell~you and Anon had sex, didn't you? Glad you could do something about that heat of yours, though I'm kinda sad I wasn't invited—” I tried edging away from her, but she gripped my wrist, an evil smile there. “—he mumbles your name sometimes when we're fucking like animals—others, too, but it’s just us here—and it's so cute!” I immediately freeze at her words. Seiga looks pleased, reaching inside my tabard. “I'll love our time with that man-toy together after our victory~”

I pull away from her with a Gap, skin itching and rage liquid inside my stomach, nine tails bushy and hidden ears standing upright. “I kindly ask you not to touch me again, Seiga.” There's a sharp threat in the words, though it doesn't seem to reach the hermit.

“Hm… You know, Ran, toys that break are thrown away.” She walks up to Yoshika and, for no motive, punches the zombie in the stomach. It falls over, limp… “Get up.” Yoshika starts to get up. “Yukari-chan appreciates my work keeping her network of spies and fighting for her in the frontlines—I asked for little in return: some sweet newborns here and there; she's even okay with me eating her pets' babies~! Though, unlike me, your servitude is free! She can do whatever she wants with you, and you can't do anything about it~” I narrow my eyes, heart throbbing; Seiga giggles, Yoshika is back on her feet—only to fall again after a second punt. “Good girl! You'll get some treats later~now get up without using your hands.” The zombie squirms, using only her legs to try lifting her whole body weight; my stomach turns with the meaningless torture. “So, keep that in mind the next time you try denying me something I want—Yukari might need to fix you, and while that goes, Anon would have to do it in your place.”

The trap is easily recognizable, but it still drains me cold. Oh, to simply destroy this house of cards and save Anon…

… Yet, I wouldn't be able to guarantee Chen's safety in the process, and to fight Kasen and Yukari without a plan would end in my demise.

Just a couple more weeks…

Then I can burn it all to the ground, so no ash remains.

Seiga notices my struggle, humming with knowledge I can't begin to fathom. “I… I understand. I won't reject your advances from now on, Seiga-san.” Heart thundering, I bow down to her, Yoshika finally managing to get on her feet for Seiga's great amusement.

“Wow, I didn't think you loved me too, Ran! My heart was jumping with my love confession, heh~!” She spins in place as if a love-struck teenage girl. “Just don't get too boring too fast, please! That's never fun. Anyway! Let's start with my private collection of cool stuff I got from the Outside World—let's see, let's see—” She looks around the wicked room, eyes gleaming. They lay on the towering piece, which, after some thought, I remember seeing it in an exposition in the century before the Great Barrier. “—Ah, let's start with this exemplar! It's called 'Saturn devours his son', one of the many renditions of Cronus and his fabled paranoia. A particular inspiration of mine, you see~” She giggles, a hand caressing her flat belly. I frown at the confusing connotation, and she gives me a smug look, though explains nothing. “I have it as a main piece because it reminds me of this certain blonde Sage~”

Ugh…

Popping through your wall in the middle of the night.
Immobilizing you with acupuncture techniques.
Imprisoning your immobile body in a tomb full of walking dead.
Constantly treating you with sketchy Taoist medicines to break your will.
Gently placing your paralyzed head on her soft hermit lap while she spoils you rotten!
Not that kind of rotten, hopefully.
