Just back from the movie.

I thought it's similar to Umineko more. In Inception it's multi-layer level of subconscious; in Umineko it's multi-layer of fantasy projection/limbo where the only way out is to find the truth (hence truth is the totem concept in Inception).

9.5/10 for me. Some of the fightan scenes are too lengthy and gimmicky and can be cut. The concept of limbo isn't fully explained in that 142 minutes so the ending can be Deus ex Machina/It's All Just a Dream if you're convinced the totem won't stop spinning.

Umineko really is one of those series which pulls you along with it, as opposed to Higurashi where I never felt a connection as such with the story.

Lets discuss the score of Umineko. Even before playing the games, the soundtrack was on repeat for weeks. The whole series of OSTs has now risen to my all time favorite set of music. From the opening of game 1, to Worldend Dominator, Answer, Dread of the Grave, Rahu - Golden Slaughterer, Mirage Coordinator, and to the recent Chiru BGMs like Ressurected Replayer, Discolor, ACI-L, Umineko's music is truly top notch, delivering a wide range of moods from the depressing to the exhilerating, even to vengeance and terror. I'm only up to episode 3, but I doubt the game will disappoint the soundtrack, and I cannot wait to get to the more recent games, especially Chiru. On the note of the music, who does the actual composing? It isn't Ryukishi himself, is it?

So I thought up some power levels taking into account canon notes from tips, character dialog that isn't trolling to make a fantasy fightan power level. We know most of these didn't happen so this is all fun and games:
