The actual reason Subaru now all of a sudden insists that she exaggerates her stories is related to the recent wave of displeasure with clickbait clips. Subaru gives a lot of exclusive behind the scenes information and it's basically free clickbait fuel. So by saying "my memory is bad" Subaru puts a sort of a disclaimer on her stories now. Probably picked up by management since Subaru's stories can easily be cross-referenced with other members to find that she doesn't really change anything in them.

Even confirmed cases fall into this category. Okayu damage controlled one of her stories to prevent people from assuming that Subaru is infringing on OkaKoro (while Subaru does visit Okayu's place so much she made accommodations for her), Lamy once told a story with a different detail again to damage control. It's pretty clear what purpose this actually serves.
