1. I see it as a more involved form of cosplay. Yeah, I could just wear a costume but then I can still see my face, and when I see my face I know that I'm not really the character. with kigurumi I can't see myself at all, and there's greater immersion. Someone who sees me wouldn't say "Oh, it's john doe wearing a costume" they'd say "Look, it's (character)".
