Has anyone else noticed that the better you get at Japanese, the harder it is to watch anything with English subs?

Your brain (at least to some degree) understands the Japanese it's hearing and latches onto it, and trying to read the subs while you're hearing that Japanese becomes like trying to listen to two different people speaking to you at once, and in the end you end up not being able to follow either or them.

Anyone feel like the further they delve into Japanese, the less and less confident they become in using their own native language? I've started second-guessing myself a lot lately when using English and wondering whether I'm actually forming grammatically correct sentences or not. For example, when I type out a post on 4chan and read it back before submitting it, I often start having doubts about whether what I wrote is correct English and end up re-writing my post in a different way because I don't feel confident that it is.
