How do you think each monster would sound when they speak? For some reason I headcanon black harpies as speaking with a southern drawl and arachne having a soft French accent.

I wouldn't say that about most artists. Some just don't bother doing the extra lighting passes unless it's for a commission or something, it's a lot of extra work to put into a random illustration or sketch for no payout. That kind of detailed lighting usually just comes premium. KC's regular sketches can be fairly flat too if it's not for a full illustration, like a profile or book cover.

KC is particularly good at depicting light on skin though. The way he balances shine and different tones on skin really stands out and adds a lot of depth.

I feel like in the end that's the most classically romantic outcome of them all. The man chases an impossible dream with all his might, but his dedication draws the attention of someone who recognizes his efforts in the present and loves him for who he currently is. Over time he realizes that the right woman was there all along, supporting him and cheering him on while expecting nothing in return.
