>The Shining Cathedral of Erras-Gell, humanity's brilliant beacon amidst the the encroaching, lonesome dark
>Bells rings, people cheer, flowers are thrown. The chapel is filled and yet more joyous citizens crowd beyond its walls. Beautiful noise.
>The Knight being celebrated, draped in stringed flowers and and golden tassels from the commotion of the crowd, strides armored and brilliant between the rows. An ocean of people have parted for him.
>The High Priest smiles patiently, the Knight's mother smiles broadly and proudly. Light and laughter abound.
>A perfect moment shattered by the frantic yelling of a man, a guard from the gates of the outer city. He is hoarse and panicking. "She is upon us!
>"The main gates have fallen! Breached! I-it's the Black Dragon! The Ashwing, Death Herself!"
>Orders are given, which the man delivering the news waves away. "No! No! There is no time! Did you hear me!? She is upon u-!!"
>A crash, horrible and deafening. The steeple of the church is obliterated, shattered to mere splinters upon Her arrival. Flame, Ruin, and Ash follow Her as an aura. The golden light is instantly stifled and suddenly the holy cathedral is a Hellish dungeon of Her making.
>The Knight, poised to strike, is himself stricken back from the sound of her mighty voice.
>"VILLAINS!" Her shriek cracks the air, shatters stained glass windows. The air around her voice resonates like the blast of a cannon. People stumble and clutch their ears. Even the Knight, stepping forth to oppose her, shrinks back in alarm.
>She casts her eyes not at the Knight, but at all others. She hisses, steam bubbling from her lips as she slings accusations. "Villains...all of you...killers. Traitors!" Her eyes, just for a moment, meet those of the Knight's mother and the dragon almost seems to struggle out her words. No longer shrieking or roaring, but speaking with a menacing, room-filling whisper. "Yooou...filicider...my teeth at your throat, O were it not for-"
>This was enough for the Knight to act. He lunges forward but his black-scaled adversary rushes to meet him, to overwhelm him. He is trapped within her embrace, wrists held in her claws and legs entwined with her own.
>Her voice remains as a whisper but not an angry one. A huskier one, a shakier one. "Do not fight me, I am here to rescue you from this."
>"Wh-"
>"PROTEST NOT, you are coming with me. You may not refuse. You have...wounded me. The only one to do so. Here." She taps at her chest, the spot just above her heart. "Right here. My heart has been stabbed and the only way to right the injury is the balm that is you, the onl-"
>"What are you talking about?"
>She pauses...blinks rapidly, her voice trapped behind her teeth for but a moment. "...I'm stopping the Royal Execution of Sir Marius-"
>"Exaltation."
>"..."
>"It's...the Royal Exaltation, it's like a...a promotion of sorts. Because I fought against you and returned, actually."
>".............Oh......"
>She straightens herself. Bows apologetically to the mother. Walks away but briefly before darting back, snatching the Knight, and taking to the skies again.
