The only thing that bugs me about the pillar puzzles are the game's physics. Dropped objects in the pillars tend to bounce off once you put them there.

First puzzle: unlocks the room to the sniper rifle
put a light source on each of the 10 pillars

Second puzzle: unlocks the elevator panel with the Acceleration Gear
1) ru.so.n : ruson (clay pot)
2) ta.n.su: tansu (brown/black box)
3) ki.ri.ha.^.ko: kiribako (flat wood box)
4) ha.n.ki.^.ri: hangiri (wooden rack)
5) ha.^.su.te.to: basuteto (black cat statue)
6) yo.u.he.n.te.n.mo.ku: youhentenmoku (small tea cup in the office with the sniper rifle)

I'm kind of glad in a way that the scroll system makes is hard/almost impossible to max out a weapon's strength. I was able to max out the kunai and put out 1003 damage... it was the epitome of broken.

Here's a bit of (very rough) translated dialogue:

私達のことは（鉄の後継者）とおよび下さい」 // Please, call us the "Iron Successors"

貴様らの仲間（明嵐）、（九石）、（八）なる無法者が //Your damned outlaw associates Mearashi, Sazarashi, and Oshimazuki
日南重工の足元で食人王の私兵と一戦交えていたことをな」//while on Nichinan Heavy Industries heels, crossed swords in battle with the Cannibal King's private army.

日南総一郎「ここへ来た理由は何か？ // What's your reason for being here?
停戦か？報復か？」 // A ceasefire? Revenge?

大豆生田「前者でございます //Oomamyuuda: The former.
……十八公殿？」 // ... Lord Soyagimi?

十八公「承知」 //Soyagimi: Understood.

大きな肉を切ったような鈍い音がする…… //There was a muffled sound of flesh being cut...

大豆生田「無法を行った仲間のケジメでございます」 //Oomamyuuda: This is the distinction from the previous acts of our lawless comrades.
//Alternative: This is to distinguish ourselves from our comrade's disorderly conduct.

日南総一郎「……両腕を犠牲にしてまで得たいものとは？」 // ...What do you want to gain by going so far as to sacrifice both of your arms?

大豆生田「社長のご子息の……日南歩の（得物）でございます」 // The president's son's... Nichinan Ayumu's specialized skill.

南総一郎「まだ生きておったか //So he's still alive
……気に入った //... I impressed
好きにしてよいぞ」 //Do as you wish.


大豆生田「はい、ありがとうございます //Oomamyuuda: Yes, thank you very much.
（娘）様の守りは食人王に代わり二十一にお任せください」 // In place of the Cannibal King, please leave your esteemed "daughter"'s protection to Nisoichi.

日南総一郎「露払いは任せる」 // I'll leave the herald to you.
