For the record, there is one move that actually benefits from that ability (more than simply because it deals 20% more damage), and that's Overskill, since in addition to 120% damage, the user also only suffers 60% the recoil. And it isn't even a STAB, anyway. Most other gimmicks associated with it are not really beneficial, like higher crit chance with Magic Ring and better flinch chance (though still not higher than 30%) with Champion's Medal.
