It was dumber than that. It was whoever broke a 10k milestone that week. If you ended the previous week at 99k all you needed was 1k to not get featured. Alternatively if you had 9k every single week you'd be featured every other week even though you were consistent. A 1k earner wouldn't be featured in the shame corner while the 9k one would. You could also use both examples on the same person. If you go from 90k to 9k in one week, but then the next one you go from 99k to 100k, the dumb chart would make it seem like the first one was bad and the second one was good. Pre debut people thought it'd be Botan but she's too chill and normal, then once it got out that Polka was a reincarnation people thought it'd be her, but you know. Lamy seemed like the perfect vannila gfe money maker, but she was too weird. Nene had a design debuf and a slow start, it could have been her if she was given the attention she has now. Aloe now only imploded but made everyone else depressed and stunt their growth. And then cover released en soon after to make everyone forget about Aloe. There's also the problem of saturation and nothing groundbreaking about them. Gen2 had nijisanji killer Aqua and Choco with asmr, gen3 was the cabaret gen, Coco alone made enough waves to make her gen clearly distinct from the previous ones. I love gen5 and they're honestly my second favourite, but for the casual viewer who will only pick one or two holos to watch there's a more popular and better established one for every one of them
