Anon was in need of work, fortunately for him new opportunities were opening up on the other side of the portals. People had gone off and colonized the new world just as much as mamono have done here, and there were plenty of new jobs opening up. Especially park-rangeresque jobs to keep tabs on the wilds of the new world, and as anon always loved nature he took a job as a river warden.

The job was simple enough on paper, no degrees needed, only a high-school education and the ability to operate a boat and radio was required. It finally paid off to have a friend that took him sailing on the open oceans that let him learn to operate a boat, his only real skill. With that and after a brief orientation by an his superior, a squat sour looking man who surprisingly had the most cheerful harpy of a wife, you were on your first patrol.

That patrol was literally the first patrol of a river warden and there wasn't much procedure honestly. The only instructions you had was to report on any obstruction of the waterways, clear them to the best of your ability, take stock of the animals and Mamonos that live in the area, maintain friendly relations, and liasion with the druid's guild should anything need fixing.

All the Mamonos on the riverways were super nice and friendly, so you supposed a part of your job would be easy enough to maintain. Not to mention they were VERY eager to let you count them, you could've sworn they were more and more undressed with each new one you counted. However, that and the other counts and estimates of the local fauna went off without too much of a hitch.

That is until you reached one of the further areas of your patrol, a tributary of the main river you patrolled, the waters here were more gentle but a distinct sense of danger lurked around you. You couldn't place it at first, but soon your realized that whatever the danger was it didn't lurk on the river banks.

You spotted eyes under the water on several occasions, this didn't spook you much as you grew up in the south where gators were a daily danger after all. Despite that, you soon realized that whatever it was it was too big for a gator, too... furry? And once you saw a human face you realized that whatever it was it was likely a Mamono! You were hesitant but you stopped the engines of your boat and followed your training, "some isolated monsters are scared of our worlds tech, so be sure to stop your engines and weigh anchor while you wait for them to approach".

You did just that, you even got a few treats out, some spare trail mix, a few candy bars, some sweet juices. All stuff you prepared to entreat upon with the locals should need be. Eventually you saw one or them dip above the water, just a white-haired head at first, so you called out to her hoping they spoke the common language. "H-hello miss, its nice to meet you... I'm the new... well first river warden. I hope to make your acquaintance..." and held out a piece of candy as offering.

It felt like ages as you held that squatting pose on the edge of your trusty boat holding out the candy, until finally with a blushing face the mamano rose out of the water exposing her uncovered chest and very fluffy head and arms. You were in professional mode so while eye catching it didn't faze you, and the girl took the candy after sniffing it eventually and following your lead ate it after realizing it was food.

She dipped back into the water after, and a little disappointed that you didn't get to talk with her you were set to record your encounter and get back on patrol. That was until around the boat several more of the same species of girls rose their heads out of the water, and all held out their hands at the insistence of the one from earlier. They were all rather nervous looking and you couldn't help but bring out your snack vault and take it upon yourself to feed them like goldfish.

That however was a mistake it seems, as one of them started hauling itself onto your boat. You were about to explain that you couldn't take it for a ride when another got on, then another, until your boat seemed like it was at weight limit as no less than 5 of them including the first one you met was on board. You belatedly realized that this must have constituted an entirely 'family' of the girls as some were clearly older and some young looking. The one you met first, a middle child if body type was any indication, was the first one to grab onto you, taking your hand and pressing it on her head.

Her head was soft despite being soaked and felt like petting a small animal in its fineness. It was addictive and soon another approached taking your other hand, doing the same. You soon found yourself surrounded by the fluffy lamia like girls in a petting frenzy!

That was when you noticed the first girl you encountered start breathing heavily, her face flushed like never before. Despite your professional attitude you couldn't help but notice her body flushing as her sisters followed suit...

Bunyip is definitely a candidate. They're fluffy and perky. Kikimora's though just look so soft and floppy.

However, I also find a lot of appeal in the fin/spine ears of some of the reptile and fish girls.

Bunyip's "making of" notes bunyip at least have surprisingly cute, almost child like voices, if I recall right.
