I think I became aware of Touhou around 2008-2009, played EoSD for the first time in 2010 when I was about to enter High school. But at the time it was just a novelty game, that instead of planes it had witches with poorly but cute drawn pictures.

A booster period for me was 2014-2015, I got into trouble and was about to get expelled from College, thank God it didn't happen, but it was a time I was supper depressed to a point I really didn't move and lost 20 kgs.

Gradually as time passed on, I just listened to Touhou circle remixes, and slowly as my situation improved I just kinda played the games a lot. For a brief moment, I was a NEET, but that was ok at the time, instead of suicidal thoughts, for worse or better I started lurking especially into the music, but I also wanted to play the games, etc, etc. It was funny how suddenly the funny anime girls began to have a name and lore (and fan lore) attached to my head. so Touhou has a special meaning for me. I can't say I'm obsessed (well, there was a time I couldn't listen to anything but Shibayan), but Touhou is just like a little mind heaven for me. I can enter zombie trance mode with Astrolomeria which really helps a lot during working hours.

But when I think of Touhou, I of course just don't look at the music, I try to look at it from different angles:
