Wait did no one else get Battler=culprit right?
It seems so obvious to me. In the end, Battler miraculously survives the massacre and leaves the island alone with a goldbar on a boat (where did he get those from?), but then the gold bar magically disappears and Beatrice (aka the GOLDen witch (aka the gold)) somehow falls off the boat into the ocean. In his manic greed Battler jumps into the sea to rescue the "gold"en witch but nearly drowns in the process.

I just woke up to yet another day of crushing existential dread and loneliness where Sonozaki Shion is not real, I'm not a cute girl in the Ushiromiya family and WW3 has not begun either.
