It's your second-to-last semester of college, and you've finally found an internship. It sounds like it will mostly be data entry, fetching coffee, and other small tasks. You did some research, and it's a large company. You're not sure exactly what they do, and the information on the corporate structure was a bit fuzzy, but everything points to them expanding. So you go into things hoping to turn this unpaid summer internship into a job when you graduate next year. The offices on the 30th floor of the tall glass and steel building quickly become a familiar, and even welcoming place. When you started, you thought they'd be dismissive of somebody with no experience, but you end up getting helpful advice about your career from people who used to be in your position. The data entry is tedious and repetitive, though.
Two weeks after you start, things start going wrong. Your boss's boss gets sacked, and everybody is getting called, one by one, into the corner office. The one with the shades drawn, and a dark shadow beneath the door. Lots of people aren't making it, and the last you see of them is as they collect their stuff and go. You're kind of disappointed to see many of the women in the office leaving. Not that you had a shot with them, but still... You're hoping to avoid the scrutiny of upper management, being a lowly intern, but it's not to be.
Then it's your turn. You open the door to the dim office, and before your eyes have a chance to adjust, you hear a feminine voice say, "Yes, you'll do." As your vision acclimates to the darkness, you see, seated behind a massive desk...
