Aphrodite was a wanton whore in Greek mythologies, Anon. People always like to gloss over the fact that Aphrodite was petty enough to be one of the direct causes of kick-starting the Trojan War as well since she's the one that gave Helen to Paris after Eris started the feud between her, Hera, and Athena.

Despite the fact she was married to Hephaestus, if only out of convenience, she's been noted in multiple stories to have several lovers. She was the adoptive mother and lover of Adonis, she fucked some rando Anchises, and her most prominent lover who sired the most of her children was Ares. She also had several with Dionysus, as well. Hell, she even fucked Poseidon and Zeus, but that's another story for another day.

SO. Ares, God of War. Aphrodite's most passionate and constant object of adultery. Due to his wild, erratic nature, their children tended to skew on the extremes of emotion. Deimos and Phobos were Fear and Dread, respectively, in times of war and combat. Guess who her most famous son via Ares was? Eros.

Now, if Aphrodite is the Goddess of Beauty, Procreation, Love, Pleasure, and all of that jazz her son takes that to the extreme. Eros traditionally represented sexual love and desire, which is why he's often seen as the God of spontaneous love in the form of Cupid in Roman mythos. As well as being used in Monstergirl Encyclopedia since while there is no doubt romantic love, a lot of consorting with them is a thing of passion. It's the same reason why Sigmund "Oedipal Complexes EVERYWHERE" Freud charaacterized the two driving factors of humanity to be Thanatos ( Death, Aggression ) and Eros ( Life, Passion ).

TL;DR: Eros is a better fit for the predominantly monogamous, passionate love of KC's world than Aphrodite, who's well-known to be an adulterous whore ( Which is not excusing Zeus for fathering so many bastards, by the way ).
