looked to Kogasa, gaining distance on me, looked back to the kid, and sighed, reaching for my medical kit. I was getting soft.

"Ow, ow, ow! What are you doing?" the kid asked as I dabbed his scrapped knee with anti-sceptic.

"Disinfecting the wound, you don't want it to get amputated do you?" I said, adopting the voice I'd use on the younger Youkai at the HSE.

"It'll be your fault if it does..." He murmured, embrassed at himself.

"There, there, I'm sure a strong boy like you will walk this off in no time." I said, as I started to wrap the bandaged around his knee.

Looking over my shoulder, I'd lost Kogasa. I guess I took her a bit too lightly. No matter, she'd probably go into hiding for a bit, but had to come out sometime. Maybe I could add a spot bonus to goad Goro into taking over this little venture. Aughh, I bet he was off doing some lovy dovy couple nonsense with that Amonojaku of his and having nothing but fun right now.

"Hey, hey, Fuyuhito, what's going on? Did you trip and fall again?" A tall man asked as he approached us.

"Oniisan! Oniisan! This woman ran into me!" The kid said running to him.

The man quietly looked at me, looked at what appeared to be his younger brother, looked at the boys knee, and closed his eye for a moment. Then he chopped the boys head with his hand.

"Ow! What was that for?" The kid asked, rubbing his head in pain.

"For being ungrateful! You call yourself a man when you go about, running into passing woman, who are so kind to treat you, and then bad mouth them?" He scolded.

"But she ran into me!" He cried.

"And so what if she did? You're a man aren't you? Is this how you act when things don't go your way? She, on the other hand, tended to you, so far as I can see, you owe her an apology either way." He reasoned, crossing her arms.

The brat, Fuyuhito apparently, sighed, and, seeing there was no argument to be had, bowed to me. "I'm sorry miss."

A slight smile crept upon the man's face. He was not handsome, but more rough and a little brutish. I could tell from the way we looked and the wear on his hands that he was about five years younger then his apparent age, crafts and work had aged him. Still, he stood tall and had a sort of serenity about him, although he was a little direct and proud.

"Forgive us Miss, my brother can be a little reckless and irate at times, but he's at a rough age is all, I'm Fuyuichirou." He said with a slight bow. "You aren't injured are you? If you're in a hurry, I could carry you to wherever you were rushing to if you allow me."

"I'm Takane. And it's quite all right. I just thought I saw someone I knew and was trying to catch up to them." I said, a little white lie.

"Someone you knew... do they have a name? We might be able to find them for you." He offered.

"Oh, don't trouble yourselves. It's not such a bother really." I said with a smile.

For a moment he looked at me, before nodding his head. "Well it can't be helped then. If you find yourself hungry please pay us a visit at our little bakery just beside the village square, we have the bread sign, you can't miss it. I'll see you're treated well.' He said, turning to leave.

"Oniisan! She's definitely hiding something!" The child complained as he made to leave with his brother, before getting another knock on the head.

"And it's not our business to pry is it? Besides, I saw you making eyes at your school mate. I don't think young girls like men who gossip." He said, pulling the boy by the collar out of the alley.

I sighed and said a small thank you to the man, Fuyuichirou was it? Maybe I'd look into the bakery supply chain a bit-

I wrote some fluff stuff about operations with Yamashiro. Forgive me for the awkward grammar, I am a poor writer.
(1/3)

Hi! I’m Takane Yamashiro, the Yamawaro(not Kappa) manager(honorary) of The Hakurei Shrine Experience! And I hate my job!

It all started a little over half a year ago, when word was getting out that the Yukari household had some big commercial venture planned right in the middle of the village. Now, among Youkai, Kappa hold the informal right of first refusal for any business built within the human village. There’s no judge or law to enforce it, it’s just that they hold the most property there, control river access, and have the experience to bully any other competitor out of the field. But if there’s anyone who has more sway in the village then the Kappa, it’s Yukari “sit-and-watch” Yakumo, so when the main Kappa clans were dumb enough to turn down her contract I leapt at the chance.

Finally, Yamawaro would have a foothold in the village and could stand on equal footing with those river dwelling, Goddess teet-sucking, ingrates! Except for one small issue: the commercial project was a brothel with a single entertainer.

“Yukari is a genius though!” I thought “she’s always getting ahead through unorthodox methods, she must have a plan!”. So, I set about writing proposals on operations to optimize client throughput and minimize waste, commissioning stall designs, hiring staff, and moving tons of authentic Hakurei shrine dirt miles in open daylight without arousing suspicion (or divine retribution). And what does it get me? I play second fiddle to the hostess Shikigami who couldn’t look more bitter to be here, customers who barely appreciate all the attractions I painstakingly had built, a slew of IOUs from that Damnable Yukari, and on top of it all I’m forced to wear this ridiculous shrine maiden outfit! Not like the red-white Miko’s, oh no, those were for the clients, we had to wear the long gowns of old completely unsuited for hard work in the service industry.

“Ugh”, I sigh. Truth was, I enjoyed the hustle of building this place, but like a marriage, the experience soured over time. Cleaning blood, masking scents, and mopping vomit wasn’t exactly the next steps I’d planned after building this place.

“Yamawaro-senpai…” a tanuki girl called, pulling at my sleeve “… one of the customers got too rough and made a mess.”

“Then clean it up.” I ordered firmly. She looked at me, wide eyed, and started to shake. I swear, we have all kinds working here, mostly estranged Youkai who just wanted to get ahead a little, but I could never get used to the nuances of every other race’s communication.

“Come with me.” I ordered.
