Dinos are cool
Hunting dinos is fun, you get a LOT of emergent gameplay because things go wrong all the time and you're almost never safe, the game creates so many fun situations for you to improvise in
Breeding dinos is fun, you can be as autistic as you wish about it and you can be REALLY autistic about it, from stats to colors
Collecting dinos is fun, it's like Pokemon but you can fight on them, it's a collector's paradise (Cocochi...)
YOU CAN PUT GUNS ON YOUR DINOS (some of them)
Your rare shiny dino you found or bred for days can and WILL die permanently, high stakes are fun
Maps a fucking massive and really really immersive so exploring is extra fun, there's also like 8 of them by now+2 Genesis with their own rules and you can transfer your character and his dino army between them
There's a whole underwater biome with it's own ecosystem and challenges, it's a whole another map inside a map, also unique since not a lot of games do oceans that well
There's also a network of caves that's usually also massive and spelunking is a whole special thing you need to prepare for
Surviving, crafting, hoarding and progressing in tech is fun, you start as a caveman but get a lot stronger over time and there's like oil, guns, chainsaws, lasers
Weird mechanics like stealing eggs to hatch drakes, using obscure ingredients to tame rare dinos or getting impregnated by an enormous monster and birth your own pet monster of that kind are fun an unique, also challenging sometimes
Bossfights are fun, your dino army's time to shine, you fight dragons and eldritch horrors and get rewarded with powerful tech
Leveling spinos for hours to no end is fun if you're Choco

Simply put, it's 12-years-old-you's dream game.
