I have to say, KC really did some of his best work with the current Lamia art
the species is filled to the brim with more "interesting" or gimmicky variants for all tastes but if i were to choose on looks i'd go with the vanilla look one

Probably didn't change much, though we are lacking a lot of knowledge of dark elves from before the females all monsterized.

But when it comes to mating with humans, the real original mamono (i.e. monster girls from before lilith came to power) would have been the various types of lamia and harpy. They are noted to have always been all female and to have used humans to reproduce. Course (with the exceptions of those who could resist the urge and learned to love them instead) this usually ended with the human being killed and eaten.

Also, it's indicated that the changes Lilith caused came in two stages.

1. She became Mamono Lord and started changing the monster's so they no longer had the compulsion to kill humans. At the time this was the most she could do. In response, the chief god empowered a man to become a hero and kill her.
2. Having found the hero sympathized with her and making him the first incubus, Lilith proceeded to change all the monsters to monster girls in a single night, thanks to both how her husband empowered her and many monsters offering up their own energy to cause the change.

In other words, monsters stopped attacking people before the change to monster girls. I admit I do still find the idea intriguing of them changing into monster girls mid-fight with a human, and it could still have happened. That is recall some monsters had humanoid female forms in the previous era, and still used human men to reproduce (though they typically killed the men afterward). Monsters like harpies and lamia would thus be good for scenarios of "about to kill him but suddenly are freed of the compulsion."
