It's not too uncommon, but I still find it weird. Eggs taste great by themselves, cooked in butter or oil, and maybe with a little cheese. Why would you want to overpower their flavor with ketchup? I tried that once, it was like someone had squirted thick, egg-textured ketchup all over my plate and forced me to eat it.

Then again, I tend to prefer most of my foods without extraneous condiments or spices. I'd never put salt or pepper on the aforementioned eggs, and I'll even eat some salads without dressing.

There's something called moderation, and it sounds like whoever put ketchup on your eggs doesn't know it.

Eggs go great with anything, from rice, to ketchup, to soy sauce, to hot sauce.
