What characters are good?

General consensus at the moment seems to be that Marisa/Reimu is the best, but that is very likely to change considering how young the game is.

Generally you should pick a character that fits your playstyle so that you can do well, just because a character is good doesn't mean that they're compatible with you.


With that said, Reimu is rather easy to play, and she doesn't really have many surprises, same with Marisa. Byakuren also seems to be pretty easy for reckless rushdown play in my experience... Actually, as long as you stay away from Miko/Koishi you shouldn't have far too much of a hard time learning what to do with your character.

All of the characters are fairly simple depending on if you've played other fighters before. If this is your first fighter, stick with Marisa or Reimu for awhile until you understand how the game works.

As much as I'd like to consider it's not that bad since you can use it to counter other spell cards, there are 2 major flaws that make it just that bad as it is right now.
First being the ridiculous charge up time after declaring it and second being the question of who would use a spell card unless it connects for sure.

Just because a character is really good and possibly easy to use doesn't make it like playing on easy mode. The difficulty of a fighter comes from the opponent you're facing.

With Futo I know that my primary problem is that I either forget to charge my plates, or charge them too long. Or that I don't cancel my multi-hit melee attacks in time.

Should I get around that though, I should be able to combo all the way to limit too, at which point I would assume that my game would improve quite a bit.

The hitboxes for Marisa's moveset is... odd.

There's several times where you'll see your broom completely go through the opponent without touching anything. Then you'll see others where it neither Marisa nor her broom touches anything, and it's counted as a clean hit. Her hitboxes make absolutely no sense. Her B moves show this the most. 66A, 6[6]A, and 5A seem to hit exactly where they look like they should. I really wonder why this is.

Why is Marisa so braindead? With half the cast I have to be careful and approach carefully and then with Marisa (Reimu too but to a slightly lesser degree) I can literally dash in and just mash out 66B or 2B and make my opponent block forever or confirm to an easy 2.8k combo

and if they keep managing to block then they'll just lose by popularity because they've been in lockdown for half the round anyway
