The only real VN I've every played was Toradora when /v/ or /vg/ posted a torrent to the english translation. Looking forward to Steins;gate and maybe Chaos;head after that, but that's it.

I'd recommend doing the routes in the order they show up, they branch off from the main one and they're all rather short. Glad you're enjoying it, it's a favourite of mine for reasons I can't adequately explain. Just the right balance of moe and realism, I guess.

Shiny Days itself was almost a remake too.

Their story is mediocre, but I hoped that they stayed in business so that more companies follow their route and make animated visual novels.

I guess we'll have to settle for Witch's Garden type of animation, if it ever becomes popular enough.

From my experience, it mostly floated between average and slightly above average.

There were a few great titles like Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai and Gensou no Idea that stood above the others, a bunch of less good ones (like LovelyxCation 2 and Hapymaher) and a truckload of others that vary between mediocre and average. It wasn't a particularly good year, but it's not like it was bad either. It was mostly populated with unexceptional but enjoyable games.

Well for one thing, because 0verflow's games and the game from this year were frankly awful, animation aside. Also, eroge devs don't have the budget for decent animation, so they end up looking like shit and reusing the same scenes over and over.

Witch's Garden was pretty nice, though. I wouldn't mind more of that.

I've only skimmed through Karumaruka Circle and Amairo Islenauts, but both seems boring. I don't think I'll finish them. I still have Grisaia and Hapymaher on my backlog.

My workload increased this year, and PS Vita is starting to get good titles. I'm also trying to marathon all Kiseki series from Eiyuu Densetsu because of my friend.

Type-Moon is just spending a lot of time to make polished products. They're still working on the Tsukihime remake and Mahoyo 2 and 3, they just aren't releasing more than once every few years, which is how they've always been.

I randomly decided to read 古本屋「こほにゃ」. This definitely wasn't the worst random short doujin game I've downloaded for some reason. It definitely wasn't anything that great, but it felt charming in its own way for some reason. I'd say the only real problem I had was the narration in some of the chapters kind of bothered me, but the game itself was really short, so I didn't really have sit through those parts for too long. Overall, I'd say there are worse ways to waste an hour or two, but it definitely isn't anything memorable. The art was kind of cute in a way though.

2 routes down, it's a lot better than I expected so far, even if I expected the worst.
The drama i both Shin and Natsuki's routes wasn't overblown or anything and always ended up in pretty heartwarming notes which is a plus.
Also these routes have some of the greater plot I guess and don't make me want to kill myself while reading/just skip them, so it's an improvement over what Hatsuyuki sakura did.
Shin is best girl too, that much is clear.

I've always felt weird about the 偽善 = hypocrisy translation since the usage of 偽善 is somewhat different, but I think I finally grasped the full meaning of 偽善 thanks to asairo.

偽善 is more like 自己演出, and hypocrisy is merely a single aspect of 偽善 which is why the meaning only sometimes makes sense.

Just finished Omachi's route in Hinomaru.

Overall.. I didn't enjoy it that much. I felt it started to drag on with scene after scene revolving around Hino bullying Omachi and Shuuhei, and the amount of sex scenes got a little excessive. Didn't really inspire any strong emotions in me other than a few scenes where Omachi was kinda cute. Maybe slice of life comedy eroge aren't really for me, since I was hoping for some more emotionally intense romance.

I was interested in Setsuna's and Kanade's routes too, but if it's just going to be the same with different girls, I'm not sure if it's worth the bother. Anyone who has played this who can comment on how their routes are?

The silly premise is mostly used for comedy, which is it's strongest point. The common route and Misaki's and Sakuya's routes are pretty fun, but the other routes on the original release suffer from badly done drama. Picked up Muv Luv. Not my first time reading it but didn't do any of the side stuff after powering through Meiya and Sumika at release. It's a lot of fun but still pretty bittersweet considering what I know comes next.

Imouto Paradise, as far as I know, is the first translated siscon eroge ---at least in some time. I think it's really important to show support of this particular title but that's probably due to being partial to the subject matter.

I'm working on Sumaga, so I played through that recently. It's a lot, lot, lot of fun. Way chirpier than most Nitro+ stuff and almost kinda shonen in a not-bad way? That barely makes sense but if you play it, I think it does.

I don't know if it's just me, but I've found that some of the designs of the side characters in Kamikaze Explorer and Prism Recollection tend to vividly standout as much as the heroines compared to most other games I play, at least in terms of visuals. Prism Recollection had super delicious Hatsune along with Anzu and even Izumi, the obligatory male friend, while Kamikaze Explorer had Eri. It's like they design several characters all meant to be main characters, but then arbitrarily decide which designs will actually be main heroines.

Ehhh, shitting on Overdrive is just the latest echo-chamber effect, we get those sometimes. Don't care for most of their games but I've read far worse. Bokuten was actually pretty interesting but it's Debbie Downer in VN form.

Can you get all endings in Baldr Force even if you play on anything below normal? I'm in this more for the story than the gameplay element so I'd like to tone it down a bit if I can get the same endings regardless of difficulty settings

Currently playing VBG, I may have missed an explanation but how do you heal units without spending a massive amount of gold? I notice that some units seem to regenerate over time but it takes many turns, during invasions it's hardly viable.
