Last three things I read were:
Subahibi: Goes without saying fucking great. I'd be okay with losing my memory and rereading it again.
Sumaga: It was okay. Felt like I was reading some Shounen manga or something, with porn thrown in. It was really long.
Oretsuba Prelude: Really well written.

I guess the obvious choice would be to go read OretsubaR now but I'm not sure. I'm worried it is going to be so good that everything else I read after it is going to be so boring or something. I want to read WA2, DCIII (Does X-rated have more content other than, well, hscenes?), or something else. Or maybe a moege. How's 大図書館の羊飼い? I've had that downloaded for awhile now.

Anyway, any advice or should I go with the obvious choice of action and read Oretsuba?

Finally gave up on actually playing Sengoku Hime 3 and just downloaded a 100% save; every single event is viewable from the omake section so I'm not missing out on anything (other than the various one-liners where I can only replay the voice). At the rate I was playing it was going to take me at least twice as long as Otosen 1, which had nearly deterred me from touching another gesen18 VN due to how long it took to finish. I can't imagine anyone autistic enough to legitimately play through all the games in the series (they just recently came out with 5 now? jesus fuck).

I just caught a Japanese cold though, leaving me with no energy to fap, so I started playing MGQ3 and trying to win every fight on the first try. Even if I lose it's usually one by THAT guy so I just skim through the scene and retry.

>>11698335
After reading Sharnoth it really bugged me how Ixrec always says reading Celenaria is unnecessary for the rest of the series. Sure, the main plot of Sharnoth is independent, but it really has so many side references to stuff from Celenaria (and the Celenaria fandisc is VERY relevant, although there it was kind of the reverse case, lots of the stuff in it made more sense after reading Sharnoth). I recall someone on the amaterasu forums bitching about how the characters in Sharnoth kept obsessing over the sky and then it never had anything to do with the main plot; if they had read Celenaria first it wouldn't have seemed odd at all.

>> No.11698488

The game still makes a really huge point on it in itself, I mean, the pope in it declared a point that let just a little bit of sunlight in London a miracle, it was obviously a big deal.
I read Celenaria afterwards and then re read sharnoth for the FVR and some things really made more sense.

I just finished Taiyou no Promia, and it was simply amazing.

I can't recall the last time I enjoyed a VN so much. The plot was interestingly constructed, with every route showing new details and completing the others, and it made me smile too many times to count. (there was one point I missed, though, what was Flarerouge? A body for Promia that had lost its memories and grew up as a normal human?)
The music was also great, I fell in love with
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vV_ukw4f0g
(slight spoiler warning) which was played quite often, but still managed to make the mood every time. There wasn't a single moment I felt bored while playing it.

I liked every single character (with the exception of a certain villain who has too little screentime) which given that it's essentially a charage makes it a success. Even Flarerouge, who I thought would be a cliche tsundere warrior, was far more honest and sweet than I assumed. Promia has to be the most adorable baby I've ever seen. Elegano's benevolent trolling ("I'll take care of the baby tonight, we can't have her seeing you two FUG ALL NIGHT") was some of the best I've seen. Most of all, though, I liked Rino-Reno, I'm a sucker for eternal lolis but she's even better than usual. Her maturity, experience, cuteness, voice, and playfulness had my full attention from beginning to end, and both her H-scenes and ending were incredibly cute.

In a few weeks, I'll play the FD, and some other time I'll replay the main game. For now, I'll start some nukige, because I'm not sure I can easily find something I'll enjoy so much. That was seriously good.

Shit writing is shit writing
.When has TM wrote a story that's in anyway or form related to lolgrails, really they can't create anything new right now.

Good Writing works on two levels, general structure and subtlety of prose. While a translation strips the latter but you can always see the former and Nasu has some of the worst pacing you've have ever read, serously 4mb worth of nothing.
I can't believe it's just author repeating himself a hundred times like his readers are braindead monkeys or rewriting the characters to behave as dumb as possible. General structure makes up the vast majority of an author's talent and it's no surprise that the big names /a/ & /jp/ are fond of fail miserably enough at it to be stuck writing for this industry.

Mahoyo was edgy old as fuck and Turkey Handle remake will always be a Turkey Handle-shut even if you increased the production value by a factor of 10. It's not a substitute for good writing. Shit will be shit if it's written like shit.

What a good writer writes: This is a fanfiction lol
Did nasu ever wrote something on a level of this excerpt?

"The footfalls of sandals alerted Father Hughes to his young acolyte’s arrival long before his frantic voice.
“Father! Father! The sign in the heavens has come, just as you said it would.”
The room Father Hughes prayed in was small. It was a tiny cubicle of gray stone that had worn down with age and was marked by the Holy motifs of Him. As far as players of prayer went, it was humble. A fact more unusual given the grandeur of the palace it was located within. But it was an old place, and while the palace had steadily grown and become more baroquely beautiful with time, the little chapel remained as it always had been; a simple little gothic structure dedicated to Him and Him alone. There was no need for gold, silver or great works of art painted by the best. Faith was all that was needed in the small chapel and Father Hughes’ heart brimmed with it at the acolyte’s news. "

Even CCC's cosmology all that shit about, trichiliocosm-shit, Nayuta-shit and Muryoutaisuu-shit, sounds like they're shamelessly copyshifting to a cosmology like PL/KKK/DI. Get the fuckout of my Buddhism/Hinduism shit Nasu.

Oh well ROOT-shit is mosly irrelevant in the discussion outside of lol!Zelretch.

I guess the shift in cosmology would make it easy for Nasu to fakewrite a plot similar to Chuunishits like DI/KKK/PL.

What if they're Nukige-shit, Netorare-shit, plain old shit and chuu2-shit? Everything is up to the writer's capability to make it work, regardless of the the genre.

Nasu is good as a dreamer and constructor of his Nasuverse but he's fucking terrible as a writer. If you disagree with that then you didn't read a single good book in your entire life. Because Nasu's writing skills are on the same level as some shitty Harry Potter fan fiction or "gaming" literature.
Nasu really failed to learn "show don't tell" lesson in writing school, who the fuck releases 5+ character materials to answer questions that contradicts his very-own story. It's like a bad fanfiction writer that has to explain to the reader wtf he's reading every chapter.

The only good thing about CCC was AUO, well really that's the only good thing about it. Original > Fakers.

This.
It's hard to break the habit though, once you go down the path of infodump writing until your editor(competent) tells you to stop. You're future work will most likely include a lot of infordumps.

I'd prefer if the most authors info-dump in small pieces, instead of dropping it entire explanation in a middle of damn fight scene :/

Another is incompetent characters; There's always an incompetent antagonist to make the protagonist 'look' competent.

No you don't, and I imagine more people would be receptive to your opinion if you didn't sound like you'd just taken some sort of massive cranial trauma or spent the whole day drinking.

This.
It's hard to break the habit though, once you go down the path of infodump you'll likely to infodump later, until your editor(competent) tells you to stop. I doubt that though; competent editors that don't suck-up are hard to find.

Sometimes you just have to summarize writing a long ass post in shit-post format.

Did two routes of ひとつ飛ばし恋愛.
Actually pretty funny in parts, especially considering it's from japan. I even dislike the whole tsukkomi schtick. Lotion ending in Risa's route made me laugh a lot.

But other than Risa the heroines all seem pretty boring and the art is quite bad. Fapping to a character I can pretend to have some sort of emotional attachment to is half the fun I have with this kind of game.
I think this is it for this one.

There will be times when you'll need to impart information to the reader, and this is perfectly acceptable. It only becomes a "dump" when there's too much of it concentrated in one place, or when it's largely irrelevant or unnecessary.

I get your point, but those were all written in the 19th century. Writers back then fucking loved infodumps and run-on sentences. It was a mark of being "high class" and "educated."

I couldn't get through any of the three of them, to be honest. Especially Dickens, God I hate his writing style.

Er, I meant to mention Great Expectations in that post in case anyone was confused by the reference to Dickens.

The only Romeo game with infodump is Saihate no Ima and it's a game that actually played with the idea of infodump due to its structure.

Play the original with the voice patch. I prefer the original music much more than the all-ages version. Also only 3 or so CGs were added iirc, wasn't impressed when I played it. But I'm pretty biased, whatever you want.

The downside is that you'll need to reread/get a save for the all ages version to read the side stories. But I'm pretty biased, whatever you want.

Nearly 12 hours late but it's quite good, does a lot of things really well and manages to make the drama feel very natural and not based off retarded irrational decisions or speeding trucks on an empty street.

It gets better the farther in you go and the final route was great. Had me going "hell yeah!" for a confession scene instead of the usual "about fucking time." Give it a shot, it's a neat change of pace.
