Use the right tag version. ID2v3 is UTF16, ID2v4 is UTF8. The rest is old and busted. I recommend v4 for multi-tag support for tracks having more than one artist, though Windows Explorer doesn't support it.

You guys have no idea. When you create the mp3, it is literally identical to FLAC sound quality wise.

However, hearing the difference now isn’t the reason to encode to FLAC. FLAC uses lossless compression, while MP3 is ‘lossy’. What this means is that for each year the MP3 sits on your hard drive, it will lose roughly 12kbps, assuming you have SATA – it’s about 15kbps on IDE, but only 7kbps on SCSI, due to rotational velocidensity. You don’t want to know how much worse it is on CD-ROM or other optical media.

I started collecting MP3s in about 2001, and if I try to play any of the tracks I downloaded back then, even the stuff I grabbed at 320kbps, they just sound like crap. The bass is terrible, the midrange…well don’t get me started. Some of those albums have degraded down to 32 or even 16kbps. FLAC rips from the same period still sound great, even if they weren’t stored correctly, in a cool, dry place. Seriously, stick to FLAC, you may not be able to hear the difference now, but in a year or two, you’ll be glad you did.

For lossless files with cuesheets, it's simple to change to encoding w/ Notepad++. With MP3/split files you can use Chacon. Really not that difficult, maybe a few seconds to fix.

actually, the man knows what he's talking about, albeit, petty or nonsense to most people. when i've gone back to some really old mp3's from way back 'in-the-day' (90's, Napster, 56k modem) most of my mp3 library sounds like crap, mostly due to the technologies available at the time. i notice an unusually large amount of "pops" in a lot of songs and a 128k rip sounds more flat than a new 128k rip (both sound terrible regardless). anybody who knows how data is written to a disc would know that bits do get lost over time.

i'm an arrogant, elitist, analog snob with 2 vintage hifi systems (1 solid state/1 tube based) that can expose every imperfection in an mp3 file. it absolutely cracks me up when people think their crappy OEM soundcard, crappy best buy cables, and crappy desktop speakers are suitable benchmarks for judging sound quality.

it's pathetic how nowadays people have allowed themselves to compromise quality over convenience and cost. i'm only 34 but just as bitter and scornful as someone twice my age. just wait until i get my FLAC vinyl rip blog up and running!

I also have 1000$ headphones and 500$ DAC and don't hear sufficient difference between 320 and lossless. After years of listening music on an expensive shit, I came to the conclusion that the only things that matters are mastering and recording.

In their previous game, Touhou Quest, you could skip the installation and go straight to the containing root folder on the disc. In there was a setup.txt which had configuration toggles for the setup installer, one of which being an enable/disable on the serial code input. Is there anything like that for Nightmare of Rebellion?

There is an installer.ini that has an "EnableSerial=Yes" line. I'll fiddle with this.

I got the files off the image the same way I did with Touhou Quest (using 7zip to open the setup.001 and pulling the files out of the setup file in there).

- Create playlist "Best Ones"

Too slow. An album a day is pitiful, and I simply can not handle that. To make any sort of headline on the backlog, I must listen to at least 5 albums a day.

I simply listen to an album with nearly 100% focus, and decide right then and there which songs I will put into consideration. These go into a separate folder, and I give them another listen at a later date, keeping the ones I like, and deleting the ones I do not. If a song is a must-have, I put it into my "music" folder and tag it right there.

This is a process that is likely only doable if you have super picky standards, as I do. Whatever works, though.

Open the setup.001 archive included in the disc with 7zip, and then open the setup archive contained within setup.001. Inside that is the game files. Basically you skip the entire installation process, although the game still performs a serial license check on boot up so it'll take an edited Engine.dll to bypass that.

Alstroemeria sounds like trying too hard; Dominated Dancehall at least had some extreme songs if you liked the style, but now they are just throwing random stuff in hope to make it cool enough.
