Hey /jp/, I'm headed to San Francisco's Japantown today. Any local otakus know any must-visit spots? Outside of jtown is cool too; I'll be in the city all day.

Way ahead of you, m8. I've done my research, I just wanted /jp/'s input as well. For example, Kinokuniya looks pretty neat, but I'm wondering if it'll be overpriced weaboo books central. I'd like some opinions that aren't shitty yelp reviews.

Go look at all the Americans.

>> No.12154872

I can confirm that Japantown has great food but pretty normie everything else. There are some really cute (but super expensive) clothing/accessory stores but everything else is pretty much the same from shop to shop. You can go through everything in about a day so just window shop and explore and have fun.

I've never been to the SF Kinokuniya, but I go to the Seattle one sometimes. It's a bit overpriced, but not horrible. If they happen to have what you want, it's worth it to avoid the hassle of importing IMO.

I pay $900 for a modest apartment here in NYC. Jesus, I wished I lived in Hawaii.

I just realized I have a vacation option open. Thinking Hawaii or Bermuda. Bermuda would be cheaper but less cool.

>> No.12156207

>>12156198
you could get a decent place for $900 here too. if you wanna go on vacation to chill and relax go to one of the other islands, kauai is probably best. waikiki/honolulu is very urban. but if you wanna hit on tons of japanese fob girls then waikiki is the place for you.

Whats the island with the volcanic beach sand and rocks or whatever? My friend went there a few years ago and it looked amazing. Does Hawaii have rainforests? That would beet neat to see.

i live in they bay area. SF Japan town is like two blocks. You can go to the bookstore/video store, eat lunch at a restaurant, or get some crepes on the top floor. That's about it.

Lucky for you theres plenty of other shit to do in the city, but /jp/ probably isn't the board to ask.
