Have you tried Power Within? It drains health yeah, but gives a potent boost to stamina regeneration and damage reduction, aside from the obvious damage boost. yeah, I started cycling power within and great magic barrier since i only have 1 of each, with much better results. the melee damage amounts are just so fucking random. sometimes it takes 10% of my health, and sometimes they one-hit me from 100% (even when right next to the boss).

anyway, i said fuck it using high poise armor so now i'm doing <50% weight and dodging as much as possible.

I'll badmouth 4 Kings as much as I want, because I believe it's a bad fight. I love the series, but some of the bosses don't measure up, especially compared to the likes of Artorias.

And yeah, the Lord Soul bosses are different, in that they're pretty bad. The most interesting thing about them is seeing Nito's grab attack. Nito, Seathe, BoC and 4 Kings are just lame to me, though 4 Kings is a lot better than the aforementioned three. The thing is, they didn't meet my expectations as bosses, and besides the Duke's archives their levels felt unfinished and embarrassing. I loved Laurel and Hardy, I loved Sif, I loved Manus and hell, even the Chimera thing is fun on NG+. It's when I get to the endgame in DkS that I just want the playthrough to end.

Sadly, besides BoC, the Lord Soul bosses all better than shit like Covetous Demon or Ancient Dragon. DkS2 has some cool improvements but besides Darklurker, the Royal Aegis and maybe Smelter Demon, the bosses just aren't as good.

Dang, it's the opposite for me. The great club is too slow for me, and this is coming from someone who's only used great swords and ultra great swords for the entire time. It just doesn't seem like enough power when it takes five hits to take down a prowling demon when it takes two to hit me (with 25 vitality and medium armor). Personally, I might go back to the claymore, focus on a pre-made build, and then beat the game. The series is good, really, but if we can predetermine what builds are the best (common weapons/famous weapons for playthroughs + builds), then I don't know what to say honestly. It's just another regular game, but indefinitely harder. It just has a lot of the common aspects a lot of other games do, but I'm okay with that.

I'm a dex weapon person, usually with pyromancy on the side for more options. In DkS I loved the Iaito, despite its moveset (I liked it), but it seems if you use its DkS2 equivalent, people get upset. I guess there's a big issue of phantom range for people regarding katanas, but I wouldn't know. I only really pvp when I get invaded.

I did a strength playthrough recently and it was glorious. Going to do it when I go back to DkS. Anyway, with strength weapons, you really have to pick and choose your attacks very carefully, for both pve and pvp. They're difficult to pvp with against seasoned players, since baiting them is much more difficult, but as long as you control your spacing and mix up your attacks, you can have some surprising success. I actually felt bad when I one-shot a guy by pancaking him with the Great Club, in DkS2.
