I found a way to get infinite wishes outside Wizard mode:

you need:

the Moment special ability
a Book of Wish
high enough Literacy to read the book

Activate Moment. Read the Book of Wish. Because Moment is active you can take another action - drop the book and move away from it. Wait for the book to finish reading (you are in a weird state until it does). The game will attempt to destroy the book in your inventory, but it's no longer there.

Now you've got some Wish stocks for free. Either use it at 1% casting chance or grind Casting up real high to use it at better chances.

That's a pretty neat trick. I do wonder about how viable it really is for wishing. As I recall the spell wish is an odd one in the fact that the more you level that spell, which you'll do through regular use, the harder it is to actually cast it. I worry that if you raise your wish spell lv too high that it would become impossible to actually cast it.

The trick is still an interesting one if it works as the idea of free stock from harder to find books or books that you can't reserve(i.e wizards harvest) might still be viable with that trick.

Mind resistance might help a bit against the eye of insanity according to the wiki. Aside from that I remember stocking up on sister's lunch and unicorn horns to keep my sanity counter low. The higher that counter gets the worst that eye of insanity ability gets. Later on though you'll have enough power that they die fast enough that you won't have to worry about that eye of insanity ability.

>>12278601
Those Xeren tanks are a bitch huh. I remember having to stack lightning resistance and having to get my speed higher because they bolt you so fast. Speed will also help with the satellite shooter.

Grats though to the both of you. You've moved on to the intermediate difficult enemies. Also, watch out for the element dragon. Think there is just one more tier of enemies higher. Specifically, the God type enemies such as the Atlas, Stag God, and the Five Headed God.

Skill Potential - Platinum coin training with trainers at towns

Attributes will be hard to raise the potential of at first, as many of the best ways to raise it are beyond your reach.

You'll have random guild members come to your home, if you aren't a part of one yet, who will train the potentials for platinum coins.
A good bed is important, try to sleep in the King's Bed in the Castle In Palmia, or better yet, pickpocket it. A good bed, especially a Happy Bed (a good wish by the way), will raise your stat potential by a little every time you sleep, but it adds up. Dreams will raise it too, and a better bed means better dreams. I think having your pets cook breakfast for you increases your own and your pets' potential by a little bit every morning too.

Potions of potential can be purchased from around level 50 invested magic shops. Start investing in them because they will give some pretty important items.
Higher shop level - more likely that they will have potions of potential. Then bless them by mixing them with blessed water, blessed potions of potential will increase the potential of every attribute.

Get normal bottles of water, and drop them on a shrine of your deity.

Normal bottles of water are hard to find, you usually can just find them in dungeons or rewards for quests. You can also make them yourself from salt solutions, a piece of wood, and a rod of firewall if you have a pot of fusion. Just keep your eyes out for pots of fusion in shops or puppy cave. And hold onto every rod of firewall you can find, they are the hardest ingredient to get.

Yerles combat planes are a pain if you don't have sound resistance, but speed is everything they have going for them. Keep the Unknown Shell around or some other high sound resistance item (attribution shield helps). If you're using anything ranged, shoot them until they die. If you're melee, push them into a corner, use wall creation to lock them in and hit them until they die. Using slow on them will further cripple their threat level.

Shub Nigguraths, and other Lovecraftian creatures are a pain, but you can use silence to take out their more annoying abilities (summoning, teleporting). There's no direct way to counter eye of insanity, but if you are capable of using Chaos Eye (and possibly Nightmare), inflicting them with confusion, blindness or paralysis largely stops them from spamming insanity. Then it's down to hitting them until they die.

It's relatively easy to counter most monsters in Elona. If it casts, silence it. If it's fast, slow it. If it's killing you or turning you insane, use Nightmare then Chaos Eye (or your choice of status effect inflicting spell) to cripple its melee, ranged attacks and abilities. Wall creation stops anything, no matter how overpowered, as long as it's not a <monster>. Finally, rods of change creature seem to have a horrible drop rate compared to original Elona, but they are relatively inexpensive to craft and can dispose of anything you dislike encounering (such as god races, and again not <monsters>).

>> No.12280424

At barely level 30, their speed is a problem even if I use Lulwy trick and they're slowed. sound res or not, when they shoot twice every step I take, their health refills faster than I can chip through their DV, they're in two and pursuing them means pulling every hp wall monster around, there's not much to counter. its holy cunting annoying but happened already other times. I just need to grind a bit and they're cake with the rest.
shub niggers are another story though. their trump card is the insanity, summoning means only more HP and stamina to eat for me, and teleport isn't really a problem since they don't shoot item breaking stuff. again, I need more damage output

Your character looks good enough on paper, but your hit rate is awful. One thing you can do is pick up a lot of wood pieces from field tiles, since they weigh very little. Get a stack of 50-100 of them. Next, find items that maintain strength and dexterity, both on the same item would be great. Turn them to raw with inferior material. Find something that can reasonably withstand some 2000 turns of damage, some tanky boss that isn't also likely to kill you works. Get a sufficient stack of food and make sure it's not cursed. Arrange to be alone with said monster, press shift-t for throwing, and press 1 over the stack of wood pieces to bind throwing them to 1. Throw your entire stack at the monster, then when you run out, get him to move from over them and pick them back up. Repeat the process as long as your growth bonuses last.

This process will give you absurd increases in tactics, throwing, strength (from tactics), and dexterity (from throwing). So you'll have better hit rate, base damage and damage modifier.

Also, you can use this to do damage. Throw wood pieces at the planes until your gauge is at 99%, since wood pieces don't miss, then shadow step in for Explosion.

So I just went out of my way to try out something an anon suggested a thread of two ago:

Would having multiple time stops effectively allow you to have infinite turns?

So I tried it with Elosnack, and gave myself 4 time stop weapons on high dual wield. The results:

No, you can't cast time stop within a time stop. At least, as far as I've tried it. I have only been swinging it around for about 6 hours now, and this might still be revised. You can, however, very well cast it on the same turn that you "pop-out" of time stop, making an almost-similar experience, with the loss of 1 turn.

I also remember a discussion that the brown enchantments at the bottom of the page apply globally. That's why later, I'll try and see what happens if I only have 1 weapon with time stop - would I activate it less (which is what I expect) or will the enchantment actually apply to all my weapons?

Furthermore, I also noticed that different levels of time stop occur. For instance, I experience sometimes up to ~10 turns of time stop some times, and only about ~2 turns at other times. I have a feeling that it is connected to the power of the time stop enchantment imbued in the weapon, because I did just put random high and low vales for time stop when I tried it - thinking it didn't matter.

how do you raise attribute potential again? i've been eating herb and corpses and my potential is still "bad"

and what doest the * sign next to potential and (org) means?

>> No.12293213

>>12293193
Your potential goes down as your attributes increase, so eventually it'll reach "hopeless", at which point you won't see many increases anymore.

Potential goes up a bit while sleeping, so getting a good bed helps. Kill cupids of love for a happy bed or wish for one, failing that you can try stealing the king's bed. A blessed eastern bed isn't all that bad if you have issues with maximum weight or can't obtain the above.

If you hired a maid for your house, every so often trainers will come by offering to increase the potential of one of your stats in exchange for 4 (3 if you're in a guild) platinum coins, so make sure you have at least 4/3 PP before returning home, since you don't get a second chance for this event.

Drinking from wells will randomly increase your potential, but normal wells will more often decrease your attributes instead, so it's only recommended you do it with the Holy Well.

Finally, the most effective way is potions of potential (make sure to bless before use). They start showing up at about 20% rate for magic vendors of ~100 level. Invest in all the magic vendors, and possibly hire a few in your home. Another way to obtain them, other than as rare drops in dungeons is alchemy. Get some items that increase alchemy (robes do by default), and level it by making/drinking/throwing potions. You'll need angel tears, a somewhat rare material, which you can get from fishing material spots. Keep your fishing decently leveled for this.

>> No.12293219

>>12293193
The * sign means that attribute is being maintained by an item with the "maintains X" property. Some enemies like ghosts, grudges, missionaries of darkness will temporarily drain your stats (recoverable at the healer or with restore body/spirit potions), and this prevents that particular stat from being drained in the first place.

>> No.12294212

>>12294177
I'm pretty sure it's part of the new AP system. For you specifically, it means extremely difficult AP gains because the monsters INI has to be higher than yours to gain AP, and, well, yours is huge.

>> No.12294224

>>12294177
http://elona.wikia.com/wiki/AP

>INI is two numbers separated by a slash, and is determined at the time the character or NPC is created, not changing afterwards. The number on the left is equal to the sum of all attributes at character generation plus twice Life and half of Mana at character generation. The right hand number of the INI stat is simply speed at character generation.

Unfortunately, because this was implemented in 1.37, for characters existing before 1.37, their INI becomes relative to their attributes at the time you update to 1.37.

That's a pretty cool gun. I'd probably use it as my main gun if I was the one that found it. I'm currently using the Valkoinen Kuolema sniper rifle. It does a little bit more damage than the gun you posted but I'm not overly thrilled about the "deals cold damage" part.

Nevertheless, it's served me well along with the other 2 guns I carry around. One is a living weapon which I leveled specifically to demolish god type enemies. (Five headed god enemies fall by the wayside with that gun.) My other weapon is another living weapon gun which is specialized to destroy dragons. Lol, why do you need a gun specialized to drop dragons they're easy right? Well when you encounter elemental dragons that are lv 500+ as dungeon bosses you'll be glad for that extra damage. It's not that they're especially damaging it's the fact that they have obscene amounts of life.

A couple of threads ago someone made mention that the "nuke your own house and get awesome weapons" trick didn't work anymore which I thought was interesting but understandable. I went to test if this was true in version 1.38R of elona+ but as it turns out the trick still works.

The trick really helps out anyone starting out in Elona+ because it revolves around killing the two npcs that give you the tutorial for the game. By looting their corpses you'll be able to get the Bow of Vinderre and the Ether Dagger/Dagger Surrounded by the Wind. Both weapons are incredibly powerful for anyone starting out and will allow a lv 1 person to immediately start doing red colored hunting quests.

You can't kill the NPCs at the start of the game in your house in a normal fight so that's where a nuclear bomb comes in. So create a character, accept the tutorial that the NPCs give and immediately leave your house. Do not kick them out of your house. Also, do not enter Vernis as this will cause them to leave your house as well. Instead, head to Derphy or any other town but Vernis and do escort quests and delivery quests. Make sure these quests do not lead you into Vernis as well. Any other city is acceptable. Do these quests until you get 12000 gold.

Next, go into any random field by pressing space bar on the overworld. In this random field try to find some rope. Now head to Derphy and talk to the NPC called Noel. Buy the atomic bomb for 12000 gold. Pick up the bomb and notice that you can't move because it weighs so much. This is where the rope comes in. Press T and select the rope and hang yourself. Die and choose to crawl back up and you'll appear back in your house with the two NPCs with hopefully the bomb still in your inventory.

If it's not there go back pick up the bomb and rehang yourself until you're in your house with the bomb in your inventory. Finally, press T again to activate the bomb and walk around as the countdown reaches 0. Revive and loot the NPCs

I remember that stint in my early god slaying days.

The element dragon is probably the weakest of the god type monsters as it's damage is reduced significantly by resist gear/high level silence spell. Due to its attacks I understand why you say you must kill it by yourself since if your pets don't have the required elemental resists they die pretty fast.

Stag gods were painful for a bit. I ended up stacking lighting resist, working on leveling a healing spell and teleport spell, and doing lots of hit and run tactics to bring them down. Stag gods were my hardest enemies in the game for awhile as I could kill anything I saw with ease but when I saw a stag god I knew I could bring them down but I was in for a long and miserable fight. Eventually the levels and stats I gained through adventuring allowed me to ditch hit and run techniques and go toe to toe with it.

I thought the stag god was the worst enemy the game could throw at me aside from the gods you worship but then I met the Atlas and five headed god. The Atlas is a melee brute with a str of 736 that can demolish your life bar in seconds if it can get his hands on you and the five headed god is fast and has many attacks due to said heads. Each attack is an element but with even superb resists the attacks can whittle you down because of how fast and how many attacks it gets. Even worst is that it has a lot of life to boot as well.

Eventually my permanent solution to these god type enemies was stumbling upon a living weapon and stacking "deals massive damage to gods" when I leveled it up. That living weapon made things a whole lot easier when dealing with god enemies. I also found another living weapon later on and decided to stack "deals massive damage to dragons" to deal with various elemental dragons(red, white, elect, etc) not to be confused with the element dragon.

Summary: Level up, get more stats, get more resists, get living weapon to deal with god type monsters

? I wasn't aware of a time when pets sucked although in Elona+ pets have been buffed with things like evolutions, ability to customize AIs, and the ability for pets to get AP so they can buy special abilities.

As for scaling there seems to be two camps when it comes to playing with pets. There's one group that dominates/catches pets and when it is no longer useful, or the character is strong enough to do so, dumps the pet and dominates/catches a stronger one. The other camp chooses a pet or handful of pets and decides to invest heavily in them instead of dumping and cycling through pets.

I'm part of the later camp due to evolution and AP mechanics for pets in Elona+. As a person that invests in his pets the general strategy is one where if it's good for your character it's likely good for your pet and if you take care of your pet your pet will take care of you. So make sure to give your pets good gear, blessed potions of potential, and send it to the dojo to train its skill potentials. Use the AP it earns to give it special abilities and increase its speed. Potions of upperspeed and hermes blood will be useful there as well. Herb food can also help increase the stats of your pets.

Despite being a roguelike Elona is actually a sandbox game and depending on the difficulty you choose you can actually keep playing the same character even if you die unlike other roguelikes.

Elona has an online element to it in the way of being able read about the deaths of other players who are also playing Elona at the same time you are. You won't be meeting other Elona players in your world though so at it's heart Elona is a single player game.

Farmer isn't a bad class as the skills you start off with help you with harvest quests that I remember liking to do. The harvesting quests had you train weight lifting and healing(carrying too much can damage you making this skill kick in) which in turn helped in the development of your strength and constitution scores. Strength and constitution help to determine your health so the transition from farmer to dungeon diver was easier due to increased survivability. Just need to learn skills to use magic and depending on your playstyle a melee weapon or ranged weapon.

If you don't really care for your character though, which it sounds like, just know that all characters that choose to become adventurers and succeed at it eventually become some sort of melee/magic hybrid, ranged/magic hybrid, or a pet handler that might leave all the fighting to their pets. I recommend picking a race and class that supports these kind of playstyles. I personally found great success in playing a Gunner that later pick up magic so if I had to do it all over again my ideal picks due to my playstyle would be an Eulderna Gunner.

I'm personally fond of starting out as Predator, it gets a +10 speed bonus that you keep even if you change your class later. It starts with Tactics and Eye of Mind to make your melee more effective, has Detection so you can start gathering materials for later crafting, Anatomy so you get more corpses to eat and Sense Quality to identify equipment. The only downside is you have no gear, but starter gear is never good at all.

I generally start as predator and melee through the early game, then class change to whatever I want my character to be. For melee/ranged, the 10% critical chance bonus Predators have isn't that bad either.

Generally speaking the tourist class is considered the hardest class to start with. As far as classes goes the one you pick should match what you want to do in the game. Having said that character generation shouldn't just revolve around which class to pick. Character race, class, and feats all should be considered when making a character.

When selecting your race pay attention to the attribute bonuses, abilities, and starting skills of the race. The description of the race should hint at the racial abilities.

When selecting your class pay attention to the attribute bonus, the starting skills that come with the class, and the class feat. The class feat isn't shown during character generation which is something they really need to fix in an update. Anyhow, the elona+ wiki has the listing of all the hidden class feats.

http://elona.wikia.com/wiki/Class_feats_%28Elona%2B%29

Ideally you will want to choose a race and class that when combined will give you all the skills you need to do to be whatever you planned to be i.e sword wielding warrior, spell slinging wizard, gun wielding maniac, performer, hybrid, etc. Also the attribute bonus of both the race and class should be considered. If you want to be a ranged user pair a race and class that will give you good attribute bonuses towards dexterity and perception. Hybrids will want a decent attribute bonus spread so Eulderna is a good candidate there.

As for feats this is what I recommend: Exorcist(Take this no ifs ands or buts just take it. This feat will protect you from some asshole trying to curse your equipment while you sleep.) Any feat that raises your speed,. Any feat that raises your attributes. Any feat that raises your resists. Any feat that raises your luck. Maybe take the feat that increases faith. Avoid feats that give you special abilities such as fire breath or vamperic abilities. I have found them not particularly useful.

Agreed that exorcist, +speed, +luck are all good feats that everyone wants. Also add +life and +mana. But the +skill feats are garbage because they're such tiny benefits. On the other hand, the special abilities are GREAT for utility and early game usage. Things like fire breath save your ass early on, then become excellent utility abilities late game once their offensive power can't keep up.

Haven't played in a while, so I have a few questions:

Was it a bad decision to add Crystal Spear to my Exile? I'm not sure.

My Elona+ is somewhat outdated at .34 I believe, so how do I update? All I do is just have my character on the world map before I update right?

How many pets should I try limit myself to? I want to keep my exile, but I also have my golden knight, black cat, xeren satellite, bell of termination, a Seraph, a Kirin mount...it's a bit overwhelming to be honest. Not sure if it's fine to spread out gold/herb'd food.

I originally started out the game as Jure Gunner that attempted to make money from performing. Alas, those were dark days as people threw rocks at me and I was so poor that I had to live off of hard bread and sleep in alleys. Being so poor I couldn't regularly afford the remove curse services so Exorcist saved me from a lot of frustration. As for luck it's hard to raise that attribute and feats is one solid way of doing it. As for speed I didn't use pets for the longest time so I had to rely on my own speed. It also should be noted that my speed by the time I got Lityou as a potential riding animal was already in the 500 range so riding would of actually hurt my speed than helped.

Only reason why I chose to avoid the special abilities is because for the most part magic eclipsed a lot of the use of the more interesting ones. I might be able to see a person picking them up if they are ardent about being a pure range or warrior type class though.

>>12297754
Save on the world map and backup your save file and maybe your user folder. Download the newest Elona and replace the necessary folders. Crystal spear is a good spell and I use it a lot with my main character so for a pet to have it as well I would think would be a good thing. If you're intent on raising a pet instead of replacing and cycling through pets I'd recommend just building up each pet one at a time or if resources permit only a handful.

What feats do you recommend the points go then? Exorcism was incredibly good to me as it reduced frustration caused by really bad curses and it certainly helped save me money. The +speed feats to me also were invaluable in developing my speed which lead me to never needing to rely on the riding skill or worry about losing my mount and defaulting back to a lower speed amount if my speed was focused on my mount. My current speed is on it's way to surpass that of even the gods so even if I were to astral pen them and mount them I wouldn't see any speed gains. I question the overall worth of the riding skill now that I think about it. It's probably pretty good when you're starting out the game but eventually you can do without it.

I made mention of resist feats but I can understand hp/mp being tacked onto the list. Fair enough. Stamina would be a no for me. I only use maybe 3 special abilities frequently with disturbance being the most used. I haven't had any stamina problems up to this point but for a character that makes liberal use of special abilities I can see maybe picking it up.

As for speed I've been playing for quite a long time and I've guzzled tons of hermes blood, potions of upperspeed, and have used AP to boost my speed to where it is now. I'm level 330 currently and due to that I can conquer a wide range of dungeons and their bosses that have a chance of dropping medals. About 1 in 3 bosses drops at least one medal and since dungeon levels and their bosses don't discriminate I can do a lv 1 dungeon and clear it in seconds and have a chance for that boss to drop medals. I turn them in to Garok for the herme's blood. Potions of upperspeed can be found in dungeons and traded for using musical tickets.

>> No.12297970

>>12297942
Not that anon, but I'd recommend against the speed feats because speed has become the easiest attribute to raise. In vanilla Elona, I used to swear by them, but now there's hermes blood, speed uppers, Traveling and Swimming, AP increases. It's much harder increasing a stat by 3 or a skill by 4 than it is to increase speed by 5.

I value the stamina feats a lot, 8 per point up to 24. Since you get 1 stamina for 5 con or wil, this means the equivalent of 40 points in con or wil for one feat point, up to the equivalent of 120. With all the stamina skills Elona+ added, and the enemies that drain it, I think it's the best value per feat point overall.

The mana feat line is pretty nice too, and the barrier AP feat makes it more useful than life. Getting the entire line for 5 points gives you 25 mana, roughly the equivalent of turning in 80 little sisters for magic fruit once you reach the 10 little sister turn-in cap. You can't go wrong with more mana, since 300-400 mana will completely refill your health bar with cure of Jua, but a new player might want the similar life feat as well, especially if playing a Lich or Fairy.

The dark resistance feats are great, tons of things hit you with dark damage. The poison ones, not so much, since the only poison users are poison hounds and undead dragons. Unless you can't fit in the negates poison attribute in your gear, in which case it might help a bit.

The faith line is good, since you can't quite grind faith, and faith gets you a lot of skill and stat bonuses depending on your god. I'd take it over any other skill/stat line.

Finally, the PV feat line is ok, 15 PV for 3 points is the equivalent of +7.5 on a piece of gear; once you max out all your gear at +10 getting more PV will be complicated, outside of holy shield or the slowly leveling armor skills.

So, for an efficiency/value focus I'd get 3 points in stamina, 5 in mana, 2 in dark resist, 0-2 in faith and 1-3 in PV for the 13 base points.

Started out with the basic layout, but slapped on 2 more arms for extra action. I've found that twin edge actually stacks with the natural dual attack from dual wielding, allowing me to sometimes unleash a ripple of 12 attacks per button press. I chose thief, for her, so I don't have it, but I've also found that the warrior feat stacks with the same effect. It would be mighty nasty to launch a ~24 attack ripple.

I like to imagine that she actually has those weapons stowed on her person (like knife holders) and just quickly cycles through all four with her two hands. Mind you, all those weapons are indeed knives (short sword).

The problem with doing that is eating the little sisters causes Big Daddy spawn rate to decrease. The x saved x killed counter keeps track of that. I'd strongly recommend against killing and eating them in the long run. Moreso because if you do want to recover a precious item from the quest at some point, you also have to compensate for the ones you killed. Also, at some point they stop giving +1/+1 life/mana every time (or at least it worked that way in the original elona, that's the last time I ever ate them).

>The hp feats is still useful even if you aren't a fairy

I find myself regretting I have as much life as I do lately. The only thing that really damages me through my PV/resistances are special attacks. And those are limited to 1/2 of your HP bar or entire bar in the case of awful things that can use fury. So, while my mana shield is holding, the only thing more HP does is actually make me take more damage from special attacks. If I had 10 times more MP than HP I could take dozens of charged hits before going down. Leveling magic capacity would be hell, though.

The gains from Faith can be very good depending on your god (Itzpalt gives you resistance to fire/cold/lightning for example). I'll agree faith is near useless for some gods though. And, at high PV levels, a couple of points putting you from 90% to 91% means effectively decreasing your damage taken by 10%. But yes, the PV amount per point is not exactly impressive. Still, it'll serve you well both early when lacking decent gear and late where 1% more damage reduction is huge.

It's not that new, I think it was added in a .2x version. The effect is entirely cosmetic. If you ever feel like changing your race name, you can do it through a pot of fusion item.

Class names work the same way, with the exception that changing your class name to one of the original classes also gives you that class feat (you lose your old class feat in the process). So renaming your class from "Warmage" to "Knight" won't do anything since "Knight" isn't a preexisting class. You'll keep your warmage cast chance feat. However, changing your class to "warrior" (lowercase is important) will rename your class to "Warrior" and grant you the warrior class feat.

And of course, it wouldn't take too long to eliminate the negative mutations since those potions are so common.

>> No.12300050

>>12299966
A waste? You make it sound like wishes are a finite resource when they're not. Anyhow, I already said if the person doesn't have the means to buy said potions he can wish for them instead to reap the benefits of them earlier in the game and have a guaranteed method of getting good mutations. Yes, he can wait till later to get them but that logic can also be used for any of the normally wished for things such as astral pen, happy bed, seven league boots, and secret experiences of kumi. One can just wait for those items to drop from their respective enemies. Why no nitpick there?

>> No.12300226

>>12300050
Those are sparser resources than potions of evolution. The point of a wish is to trade one resource (wishes) for a rarer one (the wished for item), or to summon a god. However, if you wish for something more easily available than the wish, you're trading downwards in rarity. And that's a bad thing because it denotes loss. Therefore it should be done only in case of immediate need.

If you ever drank from a well and it said "You felt as if a stroke of luck passed you by" or something, that means you got fucked out of a wish.

The more time goes by, like in years, the more likely you will get a wish.
Also, the Holy Well in Noyel has a high wish chance if you really want one.

I honestly don't know the details of breeding. I think that each creature might belong to a group and creatures can produce offspring in that group, and it might be that some creatures get thrown in with other creatures if the person coding the game couldn't think of any better grouping method. Like it seems that Putits only make other putits and I think I saw a slime once, breeding quicklings only makes other quicklings, and breeding town NPCs makes other town NPCs (I assigned one of those passive child NPCs you see around town and it made various children and old people NPCs like that).
But then I've a pumpkin assigned which seems to pump out random monsters.

It's a bit difficult. With my setup, I have one tank, my little girl, and two gunners. Plus myself, also a gunner. You can imagine what I'm trying to do here. However, I think that being the person in the lead means that I need to be the first in. However I can't effectively tank. To make matters worse, I'm faster than all of my pets, so they normally lag behind. What this means is, I make liberal (but not intentionally) use of the leash effect. However, in my party, the tank is also slowest. So, she gets leashed back last, if at all (I notice sometimes it doesn't work), which means one of us three gunners need to tank for a few turns. However, being fragile as fuck, that's usually the time it takes to kill one of us. And I don't know about you, but my companions dying isn't something that sits well with me - even in this game where the results are usually trivial. Another frustration is that, being early in the game, we don't have good resists yet, and I'm having big problems with hounds and baptists.

To be honest, it's nothing that a good amount of AP can't fix (some speed improvements for our tank and some AI adjustment for our gunners would help a lot) but, as you might guess by my level, South Tyris is still a long way from where I stand, and before I could get there, I need to find a way to make a cohesive party that can work well together.

Well, there isn't a whole lot I can think to tell you as I don't have much experience using someone other than myself as a meatshield. Try to not move as quickly in dungeons so you can spot enemies when they're at the edge of the screen and start shooting there rather than accidentally running up in their face. Find equipment with good speed boost for your tank or maybe find some quicker person you might be able to train for tanking. I wouldn't recommend just abandoning her as that would be pretty cruel, but finding someone to help her with her job might increase everyone's chances of survival and growth. Consider working on magic. It's pretty great to have in general anyway, and it might be good if you could debuff an opponent's speed and strength while waiting for your tank to show up, not to mention all the other nice buff/debuff spells.

Thanks for your advice.

I've taken a few into practice, such as going much slower into dungeons (I was spoiled when I had godly DV and just shadow stepped through dungeons) and I acquired a new gunner, but this time also tank - Mani's android. Damn, that 75% armor sounds incredible. I can't wait to try her out. But first, going to kit her up.

I'm trying to baby step my way through magic. Unlike my old fairy, I couldn't just cast (and therefore train spells) to my heart's delight any more. Going to do my best though!

It will be quite interesting this to work exclusively within the framework of my 5-girl team (the lineup of which is, I think, final). I'm so looking forward to South Tyris and AP farming.

They're custom sprites of normal pet monsters. From the top to bottom then left to right, I have an android, a young lady, a little girl, me, and an older sister. It's not really worth lvling up slow, weakness or silence. Actually, none of the debuff spells are really worth lvling later on since strong enemies tend to resist it. I disagree. My old fairy with >50 weakness, slow and silence with Mag abyss can effectively cripple with "strong" enemies twice her level (~120 ish) I could use them too on low-god monsters. Mostly weakness and slow. This is when Dark Eye cannot effectively blind her enemies anymore.

Furthermore, I'm not pursuing magic as the primary offense for this new character. As I said, she's a gunner, and I'm picking magic p more for utility (I chose mind bolt for the confuse, not the damage)
