Yeah, I don't think the X360 version has a translation but the PSP games are the same game only divided in 3, they divided the idols in 3 groups and the rest is the same.

If you can read Japanese, OFA and PS are all both places to start. As is 2, but the mechanics are a bit more involved and might take a couple of playthroughs to get the hang of things and getting the best ending which can be frustrating.

Otherwise if you can't there's the anime which is okay but butchers pretty much every single character and forces in incredibly dumb drama.
Dumber than the dumbest moments in 2, which were pretty damn dumb.
PS is also probably the most friendly game in the series yet to people who can't read Japanese as well.

How did Idolmaster SP stack up? It's got a different setup but I've been trying to convince myself to buy a PSP or Vita for a while (PPSSPP notwithstanding) and was thinking about starting there.
