What wrong with AoCF?

>> No.18647126

I have it on steam and at least for me, it feels like its an incomplete game, the enemies on the story mode have always the same spellcards in all difficulties, and some stories like Reisen/Doremy are shit.

I find these ratings interesting.
And people suggest EoSD as a good starting point...

I thought Mystic Square was regarded as one of the better games?

MoF even lower than EoSD? Wow.
I have a feeling that the high amount of low ratings come from newcomers to the series, but I don't know if recommending MoF as a starting point is as common as I think it is. No idea what the deal is with all the AoCF votes, though--maybe new release hype from people new to the series that wanted to get it on Steam?

Comparing the other games' ratings, I theorize that the high amount of lower scores on certain games come from newcomers to the series. EoSD and MoF are often recommended as starting points, and newcomers who chose HRtP reasoned that the first installment was a good place to start. This is why they have so many ratings in comparison to the other games, and people who disliked them rated them low and didn't play the others. As for AoCF, I imagine newcomers picked it up since it's the latest game in the series, and the Steam release may have given it some extra publicity.

Average playtime of people like this is minuscule, so it's no surprise that their ratings are going to be all over the place. From a pure gameplay perspective I'd rank the best mainline games in the series as being some order of EoSD, PCB, IN, MoF, and UFO.

literally why would anyone pay attention to ratings from such small samples whose demographics are impossible to know

Still much more than amount of touhou players in /jp/

EoSD isn't a good starting point? Why?

Those ratings are random as fuck. LLS 37 but MS 88 votes? Why does StB have so many votes? And why is AoCF the only one with hundreds of votes?
>>18648613
Your average gameplay thread has usually around 80 IPs. And during HSiFS release it was easily over 100.

This. What's even the point of this thread?

>And why is AoCF the only one with hundreds of votes?
Steam and a fighting game instead of a stg, so it hit a bigger audience.

It's on steam and probably some "weeaboo hating" sperg reviewed it

That doesn't make sense. HSiSF and other fightans should logically also have more votes.

>> No.18648773

80 IPs ~ 40 people

>> No.18648790

>>18648734
The other fighting games do have slightly higher votes, and anyone who doesn't play STG isn't likely to play HSiFS, steam or not. Like the other guy said, the other high games are the ones newbies start with. StB is kinda weird though.

hence "whose demographics are impossible to know", because with a small sample size you can still make decent inferences if the population is small, but not when the population is completely unknown
