http://www.sutafuya.net/pcdp/sls300.html

If I'm not mistaken about what the linked page says, the SL-S300 came out in 1990.

The biggest evolution the 1990s underwent was going from 1994 to 1995.
1994 had old movies like Angels in the Outfield, Wolf, With Honors, and Clerks.
1995 had movies like Se7en, 12 Monkeys, GoldenEye, and Babe that will never seem old.
The latter 1990s are superior to the former as there's nothing "Papyrus" about them.

Fuck your dumb old shit.
How old media seems isn't relative.
This shit you laud was dated when new because things were ancient.

AND fuck you trying to credit the '80s for something from after the "Hard Line" by omitting dates.

Every time I post here I am delet3d and banned.

I'll contribute whay I can.
Here is a few photos of a magazine that showcased the actress lead in the three eko eko azarack movies from the early 90s.

I am a 70s and 80s Japan fan.
The 90s all around I can't say in nuts over as I grew up briefly during the 90s, but Japan and Homg Kong still had a very 80s vibe in the early 90s. The special effects are the only thing that keep my interest in the 90s for Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

It's possible.
There was an early 90s add on to computers where you could digitize your laserdisc. It's incredibly rare, but it is up for auction sometimes or simply dealers in Japan selling one time to time.

Theres an entire youtube channel on the Japanese servers dedicated to uploading 70's and 80s Japanese commercials. The amount of VHS and betamax tapes out there is also phenomenal. The collectors are hard core. They will purchase VHS recorded tapes from Japanese homes in hopes they'll find some unheard of or even unreleased local broadcast program from the 70's and 80's or even local business commercials.

What I am saying sounds absurd, but I've seen it personally and its very weird, but to them the demand for new VHS never seen before is what keeps their interest alive.

Betamax just phased out in like 2015.
Betamax supposedly signed some kind of nation wide agreement with almost all the Japanese broadcasting stations when Sony first released it.
Why? New tech and it worked.
Japan does not phase out their technology unless they are hard pressed to adapt or a problem arises.
The amount of collectors out there are just hoping to get a slice of the pie.
>>19278442
You're amazing.
Is there anything from the 70's or 80's you need help researching or magazines or raw manga uploaded? If you tell me I can do both. If you need raws uploaded realize it would take time to track down a copy and then have it shipped out of Japan to me, but I am willing to go the extra mile for you here.

First, the haircuts and the clothes. Puffy 80s hair is just cute by its nature. In photos from the 70s and earlier you tend to see light summer dresses, which look very feminine. The 80s have aerobics outfits and oversized business suits. Second, there is always selection bias when you look at the past. Unless you dig deeply, you tend to get the best-of from the time. This effect is amplified by us having, and them lacking, digital photography and social networks. The average photo today is more ugly and carelessly taken, because it costs nothing and takes no effort to create and publish.

Betamax was compared as soon as VHS came out. There s a modern comparison too. As you probably know, maybe others here don't, Sony used VHS manufacturer and won, but the damage was done. VHS won the console war due to manufacturing costs which mad VHS more affordable and less heavy/bulky.

I dont own a betamax or a VHD (Video Home Disc) right now as any new one will cost $500 USD starting and recently the interest in the tech has surged due to the age groups of the 80s and 90s finally having the money (employment) to 0urchasr thing story saw as children. Not sure if I'll ever own a fresh out of the box betamax or VHD Japanese release due to these factors.

More like because of all the licensing going on allowing manufacturers other than Victor to produce VHS tapes early on, while Sony was the only Betamax manufacturer for quite some time, before they allowed Toshiba and some other manufacturer (I forgot which one) to make it's own players and tapes under license.
As for betamax tapes and players, it really depends on where you're buying it and which model. You can still score some great beta/hi-band beta VCR deals.

The video linked is refering to the serial killer Tsutomu Miyazaki. He was dubbed the "Otaku Killer" because of the mass amount of anime found in his apartment. There was a ton of stigma regarding otaku beacuse of this guy.

The case you're referring to is the girl encased in concrete. Still a pretty gruesome crime, rumors that the even girls head master visited the house she was held for 40 days and raped her.

You keep hitting right on the money. Every country has issues. This isn't a post or posts to poi t a figure at Japan by any means. I guess these posts, mine and yours, are more of a study into criminology of Japanese society. Japan is well respected by me in many different aspects.

Just maybe two years ago a serial criminal was arrested for assaulting women.

You would like this movie.
This is supposedly the case that blew Japan's media up both internally and internationally. I have the DVD released by criterion collection that hosted detailed notes on how Japan handled this case and how it shocked the Japanese public making them truly realize brutal crime does exist in Japan.

The movie was partially deomoized due to the hysteria coming back. Esecitlaly burecrats of Japan didn't want the story studied and wanted all crime to be kept private from both the japamese public and other nations. The thing was though that they used the honor of living family members of the main criminal as a scapegoat.

The director and the entire staff ended up shooting many portions of the film around the orginal home of the criminal and to their weary conscience the sister of the famous criminal was still around. Th sister owned a noodles shop. The entire film staff tried making up to her and the family by eating at her restaurant when ever they had a meal. An entire restaurant filled with famous actors and actresses brimming over with camera men, make up crews, choreographers, producers, stagemen, costume coordinators, etc. and etc.

Families domt live down crimes like the West does. The West has an indivdual manifest of justice, meaning each man amd woman has dermined the putcome of their actions by thwit own hamds that is not totaly refelctive of those surrpundimf them nor family. Part of this is from Roman times and then so forth from Christian European kingdoms that took the place of rome that birthed the rule of law.

Japan can go generations in from a single notprious criminal and still be looked dowm upon. That's why this film was hard to make.

Secondly I'd like to add to the news leak back.in the 90s of large Japanese companies trading secret documents via electonicly of Japanese employees across the country. The documents were of the family history and professions of workers in Japan who came from the lower classes in feudal times. This was a big sensation in Japan and it broke Japanese discrimitory laws. It's another topic linked to criminology of Japan to am extent.

Anyway here's the video/movie.
I dont even talk about this film due to its graphic nature as well as it featuring nudity not only in the film, but had the guts to put it on its debut movie poster in Japan.

Did anyone here know of the 70's extension of Fatima that occurred in Akita Japan?

A quick rundown is that Fatima happened in 1917 and went almost ignored. It was approved by the Catholic Church and there are 2 saints that came from these visions that had mass public witness testimonies. There was a second extension of Fatima in South America.

This however, Akita, was the third extension of Fatima and also approved by the Catholic Church.

Take a look.
Its 70's Japan and to be honest, the most important thing to me and the world coming out of Japan during the 70's.

Exactly, the difference in culture between Japan and the West, in terms of the concept of shame is completely different. As you stated with the Christian European Kingdoms, this has to do with vast difference between religion/religious philosophies between the two worlds. It would be interesting to study if the philosophies were reversed between East and West and its impact on sociology.

In regards to cover ups and media blackouts, it makes it all the harder to study in depth the crimes committed by Japanese criminals, compared to America where killers are given a pedestal by the media. In a way, the glorification of the serial/mass killer by the media has in a way normalized these types of behaviors and in fact probably inspire Japanese criminals. One such example was from the video i posted in my last comment, the spree killer Akiyoshi Umekawa. He pretty much was inspired by the movie Salo.

Thank you for the movie recomendation, i was never aware of this case and movie and for sure will check it out. As for the discrimination case i was also never aware of this case. If you have anymore information on that, please link it. There's always something new to be uncovered with Japanese crime!

All of this is eventually going into archive.
I dont want to seek out the darkness, but if to adapt to the culture one day, if thats where I'm headed, than these are things that probably should be studied. Its a bit rough right now, so time is a bit pressed. Thats why I brought up the archive. This thread for the 70's 80's has been a lot more extensive than other ones we've had in the past with the broad scope of what is being discussed and the the amount of topics.

I need to dig through my college notes for the digital illegal archive of Japanese employees genealogy. I just went through 14 pages on google and didn't find a source right away. I hate to say it, but it another news story Japan wants people to forget. Not event the Japan times has much reference to it. Here's the most recent article that has a glimpse into a hack of a Japanese illegal genealogy probe exposing users to company ridicule and discrimination.
