I would not advise locking Abukuma to this map until EOs are clear about what to expect. But can't really tell you which CL to bring instead.

Urakaze was there for OASW until I realised how trivial the sub node was; might want another TCI ship instead to deal with the boss, I just couldn't be arsed to swap her out.

As far as I'm aware, the CV cut-in bonus works best on the P3 boss during the day battle (don't know if it applies to the rest of her fleet too), so stack Tomonagas and T52 Skilled and Iwamoto (mine were max star); Egusas too if you want (I used 634 Suiseis to control shelling order). Iwai also has a bonus, so I ran it on Jun'You with night set-up.

Boss support expedition is pretty much mandatory for P3, probably for P2 too; node optional for all parts, but I wanted it to help clear the trash.

E3 P1 LBAS:
4 bombers to M (boss), 1 fighter 3 bombers to J (preboss).

E3 P2 LBAS:
1 Taitei 1 fighter 2 bombers (both bases). Both bases to Q (boss).

E3 P3 LBAS:
1 Taitei 2 fighters 2 bombers (Base 1), 1 Taitei 1 fighter (preferably 64th) 2 bombers (Base 2). Both bases to Q (boss).

Fair point, but keep in mind that the P2&3 route has zero FP requirement up until the boss, so utility is limited. I haven't done the math, but I suppose it's plausible that you could wipe their bomber slots with the right shootdown rolls to negate the daytime shelling threat.

On that note, though, I do think the nuking becomes somewhat more difficult on LD, because of the extra BB Hime (both of which had an annoying tendency to survive the day battle), as well as the slight(?) increase to armour the boss gets. Hence my advice to include an extra TCI ship, at the very least to clear trash before the CVL (hopefully) lands the killing blow. Things will probably also get even easier with friend fleets to help clear trash, so I'd say at this point no harm in waiting for them to be implemented for even easier clearing.

Speaking of TCIs, I also forgot to mention that if you don't bring a searchlight, the boss can't attack at night. Of course, this also means that you don't get the CI rate boost from the searchlight too. I chucked star shells on Urakaze instead, but that doesn't always trigger. Up to you whether or not you want those.

It depends on how much you grade popularity. Kamoi was very popular for a few months, but didn't quite reach full-blown meme status. Suzutsuki was kind of popular, but in the sense that she was on the same level as the other ducks. There's also the last Shiratsuyu, though she shared an event with Sara. Gamby is just in a different ballpark; almost to secondary-bait levels.
Gangut isn't too fucked, though it's mostly because she gets carried by Bep and Tashkent. Intrepid just flat-out got overwhelmed by sharing an event with Gamby.
