It's extremely difficult to find LNs in official digitised format when pirating. Japanese pirates will actually take official digitisations, convert them to images, and then share them in that format without sharing the source because they think images are better for some insane reason.

Most of the digitisations out there are unofficial ones made by using OCR software on image scans so you have to be very wary of the inevitable errors resulting from that.

Pirates are allergic to PDFs in general, and for good reason. Lots of PDFs are used to distribute malware, and they can have compatibility problems depending on how they're constructed. At their most compatible you just get a PDF wrapper around a bunch of images.

As soon as I finish my studies in Korea I've decided that I will start to learn Japanese. I already have an extensive knowledge of Hanja so I feel that Kanji won't be much of a problem.
