no but some of these are batshit crazy and what's even worse is some of the words are N3 for example but the kanji is N1 so they show up as kana soup in the exam and there's no kanji for you to make a guess so you have to know the word but to know the word you'd already have to have seen it in kanji. Even if you haven't seen that word they're easy if you can see and know the kanji because most of them are simple combinations but if you don't know this specific word that's in kana soup you're out of luck. i think N2 might be more difficult than N1 because they're stripping away the kanji from otherwise easy homophones.

Your brain will forget it if it's not compelling so you have to be careful what you put your time into, you can use those decks and anki but always have the target in your mind and the target is what you actually like to do. It's one of the best tips I know for learning this. I imagine every vocab in a manga or anime, etc. I try to get the core of it and dont overdo the droning anymore.

They put native subtitles on like half of their stuff, and I'm pretty sure it's because the language is tricky. They have the different dialects, 10 words with the same homophones/ hyper context language, so subs just help clear things up. At least it's a much easier language to spell in.

I’ve started reading Japanese literature and been quite enjoying it. I understand some of what I read and looking up unknown vocab is a breeze, putting thought into then figuring out how to parse a sentence is rather rewarding, indeed. I’ve come across a sentence that has a word I do not understand and haven’t had much luck in looking it up, the meaning of the sentence is obvious though, so I’m not too worried, just a bit annoyed that I couldn’t figure it out even with googling it.

The problem I’m having with is that これて.
Google images shows some pictures of people singing. Dictionaries just say it’s the potential te form of 来る, google translate seems to be ignoring the て and thinks it means “this”.
So, what I’ve gathered is that it’s maybe a sort of set phrase to imply starting something, especially singing. Any ideas?

ever failed an anki card, then without looking you listened to the word and immediately knew what it was? that's basically what rtk does except with kanji. i can immediately recognize a word just from looking at the kanji. I can correctly guess the meaning of a word the first time i see it (of course this has limited uses but hey)

Anyways, after doing RTK, which only took 80 days my vocabulary retention jumped from 80% to 97% so it has helped me. The writing itself isn't useful in the "oh now i can handwrite this" way, it just cements shit in your memory.

initially rtk helped me distinguish kanji in general but it stopped helping after a couple hundred and im sure just learning vocab would have done the trick

I didn't learn kanji and the only setback, the ONLY setback, is that I use furigana until I recognize the word's kanji, which takes varying amounts of time depending on the word and whether I know the kanji already, but it's not even that much of a hassle so I'd rather do that than spend "a mere 80 days" in flash cards.
