It's incredibly easy to find lots and lots of videos of underage (even 13 years or less, which is explicitly against youtube terms of service) girls doing "yoga challenges", "popsickle challenges" with thousands of views and pedophiles openly commenting and interacting below the videos. Lots of those videos are monetized by Disney, McDonalds, Grammarly and a couple others.

The comments also include links to actual child pornography (where youtube takes down the comment but not the account), compilation accounts where lots of videos of underage girls doing those things are reuploded (and it's hidden from the kids and their parents control what the actual viewers are talking about), "lewd" timestamps, etc

Honestly, I think Amazon/Twitch needs to be the one to do it. But it might require some rebranding for Asian markets, because Twitch just isn't popular over there. That's not to say there aren't people, even in Japan, using it. Just that there aren't a lot of them. They'd rather go to YouTube or NND for their streaming needs. If Amazon focused some of that tech to their existing video services, they could probably compete really well with Google/YouTube. The best option would be to make it literally the same site accessible through either Amazon or Twitch with a different skin over it. Subs and such would all carry between the two. I think the Japanese market would be a lot more willing to utilize Amazon as a video platform than Twitch just because it's a brand they have extensive familiarity with.

We all like to throw memes at Nijisanji (and some people here are legitimately mad about it) for putting out so many different channels, but then you can look at ZIG, who has put out almost as many and almost all of them (all but 4) are worse off than the least successful Nijisanji, so it's not like they're successful just because they throw as much as they can at the wall to see what sticks.

As soon as these companies weed out the shitty failure models, they'll all start following at least a few trends. It's inevitable. It also has fuck all to do with content production since that's up to the individual channel and not management. Or at least that's hopefully what the endgame for the market is.

That's what we're all hoping, and its what we're all seeing. Certain companies need to pull their heads out of their asses and other companies need to be better at promotions. If the Magical Dolls, a company backed project, and the Ninjas which isn't, can start gaining relevancy after doing proper promotion? Pretty much everyone can. Every company in the scene has their own fair share of problems, like how Nijisanjis too fucking big to reasonably keep up with everyone, upd8 does literally nothing for the people under its umbrella and event are actively made better with less of their meddling, idolbu doesn't do collabs and has a pro/con system of a strict schedule, entum zig and kagayaki stars dont promote their people but also don't fuck with anything... but overall things are pretty good.

We could be living in a timeline where everyone's a Kiki, and must reach some stupid/impossible goal before inevitably dying, but instead we're living in a timeline where Golshi is still going while her games still not released and her animes been over forever, genuinely having a fun time for a project the very definition of "backed by a shitty mega-company". We're doing pretty good so far, and I didn't find a good time to mention it but personally I think Hololives doing the best job so far with taking care of their chuubas. Basically all the upsides of Nijisanji with none of the downsides.

For what it's worth I do think the main form of virtual youtuber content being long gameplay streams with 2D facerigs is something that would have happened one way or another and the people from the old guard who ran out of steam did so on their own. Ichikara at least dug up and brought to light some good talent. I still can't help but miss the times when all sorts of varied content could get noticed though. Video views in general fell off a cliff early summer unfortunately.

I think Hololive will also ultimately be good for the scene if they stick around since they're running on a similar model to Nijisanji minus the huge number of new channels every once in a while, and I fortunately don't see any reason they wouldn't at this point. They're also seemingly doing a better job at 3D conversion of their top performers than Nijisanji is. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to see Fubuki and Mio's models.

But on that note, yeah, Gamers is a weird addition for them. I wonder if it was meant for promotion of the Hololive brand at gaming events and just hasn't really had a chance to be used for anything yet.
