I have played through pretty much every "old school" eroge translated into english. They were my first eroges, and of those true love 95 was my very first. admittedly though I didn't start playing them until the 2000s, since I didn't know anything about torrents and just downloaded them from p2p software. ...I guess you don't know that every single title I've mentioned had an anime adaption (with varying levels of ero included). Even if they're dated by now (as in, Urotsuki Douji-level dated), it's still worth checking out.

I'm probably the only Koihime fan in /jp/, if not the entire western-speaking audience.

And Dokyusei, Sentimental Graffiti, Orange Road Saga and Melty Lancer (I can't believe I forgot about to mention the last two games, they were awesome, but like Dragon Quest 4, they were more strategy games than dating sims) are light on the Japanese during gameplay parts, so it's not like it's that difficult to play through. And even if you know Japanese, the early games were ridiculously hard to get the good ends, such as Dokyusei and it's exact step-by-step actions needed to get a specific end (even with a walkthrough in hand, it's very easy to mess up), or Tokimeki Memorial's time-based events (oh, the joys of having the girls you didn't date literally sabotaging your efforts of pursuing your target girl).

Dokyusei's the one where each one of the main girls looked like a version of every character voiced by Yui Horie (down to their character types). None of them particularly stood out though, even if getting their paths are difficult. A couple of paths that come to mind is the one where you fuck the tomboy in the park, and the one where you can't sex up the girl until you tie her up.

Sentimental Graffiti's less of a dating sim and more of a visual novel, what with its pick-one-girl-and-follow-her-story-until-the-end. Like TokiMemo, it hardly had any h-scenes, and the focus is on romance rather than sex.
