i read 10 lines an hour because of compounding effects. i would spend a lot of time deciphering every sentence so the story wasn't progressing quickly, which made me lose interest and get distracted. i'd set aside 2 hours to read, but since i would take frequent breaks to do something stupid like watch a youtube video, in reality i was probably only spending like 30 minutes or even less actually reading.

i still don't read as much as i feel i should, especially because i'm listening to stuff now which takes up a lot of time i spend on japanese. but i'm able to read faster while staying focused and i understand a lot more. the difference feels huge, so i look back fondly on that piece of shit visual novel with the most annoying pink haired cunt side character in existence.

Having done RTK last year, and having moved to Japan for language school, I feel like it's definitely been useful as learning new words comes a lot easier with the prior knowledge.

Was it worth the investment? I'm still not sure, but I don't think it was a waste of time. Perhaps an inefficient use of time, but I'm not entirely sure of that yet.
