Went kind of nuts with the blue UFO's. Goddamn brofists.

I like how there are portions where you should most probably make a certain color ship. Like the enormous flurry of red fairies at the end of Stage 2 where I just happened to have Red and Blue mini-UFOs with a Green one on the screen. I got a cool 21m just for that.

what's the point of dropping 7 red ps when you die? It's like a gag gift since you need like 300 to get to 4x power

Gotta keep the multiplier high (in the bottom left corner). It starts dropping fast if you don't kill or collect anything for a few seconds. Visiting above PoC sets it to max, and while it's at max, you autocollect.

Grazing increases the maximum multiplier and collecting the green items increases the base value of the point items.

So, Opinions on UFO? I have enjoy it so far, but it feels like a totally new game, more arcade based.

People that want to go for score will have to risk to getting no lives at all, so it will be really challenging.

I think my problem was that I was summoning red UFOs, for more life, instead of blue for points. I haven't quite gotten used to the mechanics yet and it's hard enough to dodge bullets without having to chase down a flashing UFO before it changes color again.

The UFO system is good, but it doesn't seem to slot into the game very well. You want something like that easy to use and exploitable by uber players, right now if you don't know the stage you can't really use it on any level.

Definately more like an arcade STG, miles better than SA (was kind of worried), maybe the full release won't feel like a random bag of tits.

Too many spellcards that are forcing me to stay almost at the bottom of the screen. I prefer to stay about 1/5 from the bottom so I have the chance to move backwards and give myself a bit more time if I need it. Aside from that, it's great.

Green UFOs are kind of useless. If you call nothing but Red UFOs, it plays like a standard shooter: You gain lives, you bomb, you die, your bombs reset. Unless you either know your route like the back of your hand and bomb offensively, or have ultimate counterbombing skills, you don't really have a reason to do it, save playing through a run and trying to be balanced.

I found that farming Green UFOs and cheesing my way through Lunatic was a viable tactic, however.

There's a reason: You get a full bomb (and a third) from every green UFO you do correct, which is double as many "pieces" of lives that you'd get from the same red UFO.

Combine that with how you can use bombs offensively to get insane amounts of grazes or point items in some areas, and how losing a life results in a shitload of powerups needed to be regained, and it seems to make more sense to grab green UFOs over red.

You can always use a bomb to prevent a death anyways, and if you were going to die on a spellcard you'd lose the bonus anyways, a bomb just has the bonus effect of doing (sometimes insane) damage to the boss as well.

You get the default 2 bombs when you die, if you have less. If you have more, you keep them when you die, however. You can get a bomb and a half or so per Green UFO if you feed it right, and 2/3s of a life per Red UFO if at full bar. If you're of the mindset of not wasting bombs, you get a life+2 bombs by farming Red UFOs, or 3 bombs per 2 UFOs to spaaaam by farming Green.

Since the best scores will be made by farming only Blue/Rainbow and doing everything perfectly, either way is good for just completing the game, in my opinion. I think it comes down to the player sizing up his own ability per stage and calling UFOs accordingly.
