Keep in mind that stabilizer is absolutely essential when using an embroidery machine as it prevents the fabric from puckering and such. There's various kinds, but it all depends on the density of your stitches. And although the machine stitches it out for you, I've had a lot of trial and error when digitizing a fumo face since sometimes the design spacing on the computer is a little off from what's stitched. Pic related is and old attempt out of nearly 10+ designs and test stitches. But I'm never satisfied so that's just me.
As for pricing, standards for anything self-made is usually the cost of supplies + $x per hour. I used a variable because it depends on your skill level and what you feel comfortable charging. You can also just look at other plushie makers and their rates for comparison.

For sewing machines it's always gonna be "you get what you pay for" so it's just pros and cons, what you need done, and your budget. Obviously more expensive machines will make more professional stitches and have longevity, but if you're on a budget there's machines that do both regular sewing and embroidery all in one. I'm not gonna spoonfeed you too much here cause most of it really is just researching machines for personal preference, but basically it's just looking for what works best for you.

Depends on who I'm making it for and what they prefer. Common fabrics for custom softs include knit, minky, felt, fleece. I'm still not sure what kind of fabric fumo hair is made of because it's slightly rougher in texture than minky, but has a pile unlike felt.

For searching up stuff to buy I have a few outlets
First, check booth.pm and search up the character in question, also do the same with mercari and yaj
otherwise a thing that works is searching up "星熊勇儀" 商品 on google, replacing yuugi hoshiguma with your favorite, which Im assuming is rumia!
Also on the note of Rumia, you should try and make a fumo of her, shes generally considered the easiest to make, as all you need to do is take a flan, make a white shirt, make a black dress, and make 2 red bows, you dont even need to mess with the hair or eyes!!

Please excuse me for those questions that might seem out of place. I mean, I feel like this should be a place to post fumo, not discuss how to get them, but I don't know anywhere else where I can discuss with actual fumo experts.

I decided I couldn't wait 10 years to get my first gift fumo so I've probed the market a bit, willing to spend more money than average since I got a pretty hefty sum from saving up recently.
Sadly the only opportunities I've ran into so far seem to be from Amazon.
Now, I heard a lot of bad things about Amazon when it comes to Japanese wares. A lot of shitty Chinese bootlegs out there, and the few articles that actually are authentic, are sadly, but understandably, overpriced.
Despite that fact, I'm willing to spend money on a genuine product. The reason I'm posting here is because I'm scared of accidentally buying a shitty bootleg.

One product in particular stood up on amazon, but there's a lot of unknowns associated with it.
The price is around $130, and it's a Japanese seller.
$130 is a lot, but Ran fumos seem to be pretty rare, so I'm willing to make the leap.

The product title and description are kinda vague.
The title simply states:

With the term Gift being an hyperlink, not pointing to the Gift website, but to a search page on Amazon for the term Gift, which seem really bizarre to say the least.

The only description for this product is shitty engrish translated straight from google translate:

This clearly doesn't sound very promising, since nowhere in the description (or even on the whole page for that matter) do they explicitly say that their product is a fumofumo from Gift itself.

But then I looked at the seller profile.
It is written somewhere in the FAQ of the vendor page:

Lastly, pic related is the picture used on the product page.
It's straight up the picture of the fumo on the Gift shop website itself.
That alone can't be a mark of authenticity, right? And there's no other, actual pictures of the product, so I don't know how I feel about that.

So my first question to you fumo experts is: given those information only, can we tell whether or not this is a scam?
Do people really sell Chinese ripoffs for such high prices ($130), just because they know people want to avoid counterfeits and selling for a high price give them some kind of authenticity?
My second question, more for Amazon aficionados, is: if I bought the product, then noticed it was a shitty knockoff from China, would I still be able to get my money back by getting Amazon involved, showing them that the vendor lied about its product?
Also if that matters I asked a few question (asking for more photos of the actual product, asking whether or not the product comes straight from the official Gift shop) on the product page but the vendor hasn't responded yet.

you sign up, buy an item, have it shipped to them, then you pay a commission and international shipping when it arrives to them
now as you can see, there is no ran for sale right now, but trust me, its worth it to wait a couple of weeks for one to popup, instead of going through a VERY expensive, potential scam
