While I sympathize, I think there might be better solutions. /a/ would certainly benefit, as the resulting board would necessarily be not quite as stifling as it is at the moment. /jp/ would probably suffer, as it's culture seems to me - a long time infrequent lurker, but still largely an outsider - as something that cannot survive on a fast board.

I do think though that /a/ and /jp/ should never have been separated. Pre-split /a/ was glorious.
