You can see which dmg types and status effects work best in the stage select when tapping on the boss icon or long pressing the boss while in the stage. If the status effect is more than 0 it's unlikely to work unless you have something that lowers their resistance.

I don't know of any status that can cheese the hydra. The recommended way to fight it is to equip fire res and slashing res gear, and stack STR debuffs on it to reduce its damage (preferably 3 different characters that can STR debuff). A good ice character helps a lot for damage.

Like Noel you should be just able to auto the stages at least up to 15 in like 30 minutes. I did it with S Volcano, SS Emerald, SS Albert, SS Sophia and Christmas Monika. Fire mages since that's the only thing those damn nymphs are weak to and Monika's big pierce nuke to hit the forge wyrm's weakness (it was actually pure luck, I didn't know what was past them and she was my strongest neutral damage dealer). Parry tank like Albert or Bear helps a ton since the only aoe the nymphs have is Entangle, which deals no damage. Double healer might serve you better with the Sophia+Christmas Flurry zombie combo but idk. If your strongest damage dealers are tough enough, you could probably forego targeting weakness entirely.
Gear for blunt resist to help with the nymphs and by the time you get through the first 2 waves you should be able to OD combo the wyrm and hopefully kill it very quickly. When I did it, everyone but Monika had OD up to combo it, then she was just fast enough to get off Southern Cross for the kill before the forge wyrm could use any of its nastier moves.

Kemco JRPGs, although they're slowly becoming multiplatform so there's less reason to buy them on phone. Although I can't imagine most of their older games like Chrome Wolf would ever get a non-phone release. And I'm still pissed that Final Fantasy Dimensions is stuck on phones. I think it's pretty good, it's a bit different in terms of how it plays though, Crusader Quest-esque skill triggers aside it's a little bit more reliant on your dodging and positioning since shit gets up in your face more.
Gacha is kinda around the same level as Honkai, a bit easier on you since you only need to roll character + weapon instead of character + weapon +stigmata. I've had no problem getting things I want with minor planning, but I have been playing since launch, so I don't know the new player experience.

I'm traumatized by DMM games. I tried Flower Knight Girl for a while because it's cute and was bored but the best way to describe the game would be with a simple "Fuck off".
Rates are as bad as Fate/Grand order and your monthly currency is about the same as in Another Eden if AE didn't have their constant freebie campaigns so you don't really get to roll a lot even though the whole point of the game is collecting cute girls. Grinding story is about as painful and slow as grinding jewels in Shironeko without a beam/autofire/Similar QoL character except there's a lot less free currency to collect from stages with less gameplay or content than Kantai Collection.
So basically the entire game is sit there for months to try to save up for a character you want, don't get them then spend the following months trying to save up again if the frustration didn't make you quit or lose motivation to play it daily.

Are there any good DMM games that aren't absolute shit and also don't make you feel like shit? Or should I just stick to mobile kusoge and wait for the next Fotm to hit?

When you start out you will get 2 pick tickets and like 30 or 50 rolls as you level up. Due to all the constant revivals you will have a nonstop flow of currency for several months. It will take you more than a year to be done with all of them but after that you will enter starved mode and will only get guaranteed 5*/6* + 10 rolls each months from tower + whatever you get from new events (like 5 rolls/month). It's a fun game to play for a while and then drop.
If you only care about rolling you could try Otogi Frontier, think it gives out hundrends of tickets when you start out

Imperial SaGa Eclipse is a DMM browser game but not a DMM game. You can play it on DMM but it also has a Yahoo JP account version. There's a lot of autoing involved but the currency gain is really fast. If you do all your daily and weekly missions and the expedition that gives you 1/6 of a single that's available once a day you get about 1.6 multis' worth of currency weekly. There's a regular gacha that gets updated at the end of every month where you get a free roll every day and it counts towards a spark, and the spark rate's the same as RSRS (45k/15 multis). The gacha's split between characters and gear but the rates are tilted more towards the former, and you only get 4-5* gear from the gacha. Also the game's set up such that all the base rarities are viable if you put time into them, although 5* bases have the best leader skills.

Thank you double eggshells campaign, SS Kat is finally mine and in 2 weeks I should have enough for the SS armor. This just makes me more tempted to roll on the New Year's event but I hear that one's a pretty hard pass for most people. Hector's apparently terrible enough to make the whole thing a pass (shame 'cause he's been one of my most reliable characters), New Year's Katarina gets powercrept not too far into the future (but is still decent) and while New Year's Polka is good, and probably the style I want most out of the three, he returns on an amazing anniversary banner with White Rose and his really good Phoenix style debuts in that same limited pool. Though my experience with games that have a JP/global split is that the anniversary banners are always at least slightly different, so there's no guarantee global will get that amazing Polka/Polka/White Rose one.

Most skills in the game scale off of attack yes: heals, offensive skills, and even shields.
Your damage dealers want attack and crit. Penetration is sort of important but not as important as the other two. Crit power and penetration power are useless stats without crit or penetration already being high. Luck is a useless stat 99% of the time. The only time it's needed is when farming equipment. There is usually a luck threshold you need to reach in order to get a CHANCE of getting a 3rd or 4th drop. This means even if you meet the luck requirement, you aren't guaranteed extra drops. Literally a useless fucking stat.
Enemies in equipment stages usually have absurdly high amounts of attack for god knows why. It's pretty fucking shit because the devs seem to push for "kill them before they kill you" strats in this game with how fucking shit stalls and heals are. Basically only Gloria allows for any real defense which is a testament to how unbalanced this game is when it comes to offense vs defense. The defense stat itself feels nigh useless because it's just a flat damage reduction. That 10k defense sure will help when difficult enemies start hitting for over 100k base damage.

Defense is a useless stat. Tanks want HP and Guard. Resistance is probably better to take in PVP where more people run high crit on attackers, while Guard is necessary for PVE because every enemy shits out normal damage but don't really crit as much if at all.
Healers want a lot of attack because their heals scale off of attack.

Also you want your Evante to be fast but not going first. If she goes first she will randomly target an enemy because all the enemies will be at full health. You want a character like Quinn or Monika going first so they can dent someone in the backline and then Evante can finish them off.

You also want Evante to be quick enough so she can put up her shield before the enemies in her row use their skills on her. You want to tank the enemies' skills, not their normal attacks the next turn.

I don't have him and I've cleared all but the last fight in -Frenzy-. Took some restarts to get the RNG right but other than that it wasn't that painful. Mainly pulled through because of Rogue and Emerald both paralyzing the whole enemy team 2 at a time. Don't plan on buying his fragments either to change for him. Exchanging fragments for styles seems like a major waste of resources. Takes way too many and then devalues the style if you happen to pull it since if you pull it and have exchanged for it you essentially wasted 210 style pieces (250 used for the exchange minus 40 you get for a dupe) whereas the other way around you save the 250 and can use them for level cap upgrades.

Speaking of pulling gacha, I wish they'd release some banner that's worth pulling. I've got over 80k gems just sitting and waiting.

that's good to hear, i don't like gacha battles relying on having one character too much. two paralyzers sounds like an even better strategy since all the enemies have no resistance to it so it should be a smooth clear, didn't realize emerald paralyzes though.
i feel the same way about trading puzzle pieces except i absolutely have no faith in my luck so i know i'll never pull them anyway, same reason i'm never pulling on any banner unless it's to spark

Story gets a bit on the harder side as you go on, especially if you want to do the rumor bosses from the Garlea continent.
