I work with deaf people. They tend to avoid making audible sounds unless they are trying to get someone's attention. They can't hear their voices but they can feel their vocal chords. They know when they are making sounds and when they are not.

Hell, we even have a guy who breaks his ass trying to speak. Most of the time he sounds like a stereotypical retard, but he sometimes pulls it off convincingly.

I veered after the showdown too, but hell, the choices are pretty limited. You don't get to stop resisting Misha and Shizuke's advances (even after you've jumped all the hurdles that stop people from taking their route, Misao still acts like a bitch around them), and the only way to stay on their track is to be kind of an asshole to a responsible, polite, likable blind girl so that the bitchy class rep won't hate the fuck out of you for not helping her bully her.

It's tough to stay on Shizuke's track but until you actually reach the point where you have to make hard decisions, it's not like there's any reason not to go along with her and Misha.
