I've been thinking about this for a few days, and I've had an epiphany. I've run my course with this site. It's been eight long years, and I consider myself fortunate to have been able to experience the twilight of this place. DJT is the last thread tying me to 4chan. I know intellectually that reading these posts serves no purpose for furthering my Japanese journey, but I do it anyway out of years long habit. It's time to break that habit. I'm going to make it. Not to prove anything to this thread, or any personalities, or to develop a social media following. I'm going to make it because I fucking love the Japanese language and Japanese culture. It's taken 5 fucking years, but I've finally figured out what I need to do and have put myself on the right path. I owe you guys some thanks for the various tips I've picked up over the years. As for Quiz--don't believe his lies. I never had anything against him. Sure I threw a little banter his way, but it wasn't anything serious. premade anki decks like core6k arent comfy either because they have too many words that look very similar and have extremely similar definitions but that you can't even rely on memories from seeing them somewhere yet because theyre made from newspapers youve never read.

I imagine that this might come as a bit of a shock, but Yoga and I have decided that going forward, it's best for the two of us to cease working together.

We're still in the process of working out exactly what's going to happen, but my intention is to continue MIA, continue making videos and developing the MIA website, continue this community, and hopefully continue to gain funding through supporters on patreon. I also hope to work with many of the skilled developers in this community to develop new tools.

If Yoga decides not to maintain the MIA add-ons, I will find someone to update them so they continue to work on newer versions of Anki.

I've been studying RTK on and off for close to a year and only have 800 kanji or so memorized. Now I'm motivating myself to knock out the remaining kanji in the next ~6 months.

I really enjoy Heisig's system (and Anki) but feel like I may be over-learning each kanji too quickly. I've recently read Make It Stick, which proves that memory retention is most effective when the studied material has almost been forgotten -- without actually forgetting of course.

I rarely find this to be the case with my reviews, especially in the first couple weeks of learning new kanji. In other words, I'm worried I'm wasting a ton of time by over-practicing.

I know everyone has a different memory, but how long do you usually wait between the initial kanji learning and your first review? And how much do you space out reviews after that?
